DISTRICT PROJECT:
2012-2013
OUR DISTRICT PROJECT
This Year’s District Project is project:EDUCATE. The focus of this year’s District Project is the children and
education in the country of Jamaica. Behind the beautiful beaches and tropical atmosphere is a world full of poverty and destitution. Our goal is to create a better future for the children of Jamaica through education, one school at a time. As a district, we have made our
goal $30,000. We believe that education is the right of every child and with the help of the Jamaica District we can strive for success. Project:EDUCATE became the first of its kind as joint project between Jamaica and
Pacific Northwest Districts
GET INVOLVED!
Get your members and club involved by fundraising for
project:EDUCATE; anybody can join in and help support the schools in Jamaica. There are a variety of ways for your club to fundraise, such as t-shirts and wristbands. Each club has the opportunity to sell
project:EDUCATE shirts ($10), as well as wristbands ($1) in order to gain support for the schools. Please contact your Lt. Governor if you are interested in
participating.

DIVISION 32 FUNDRAISERS
Thank you to everybody that has sold t-shirts and purchased wrist bands so far! As of right now, Division 32 has raised almost $900 for project:EDUCATE! Thank you to everybody that came to the Masquerade Mash and Ice-Skating Social! There will be new fundraisers in March, so watch out for the announcements

What is MNT? In 38 countries around the world maternal and
neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of
childbirth into a tragedy. MNT kills one baby every
nine minutes. Its effects are excruciating – tiny
newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and
extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is little
hope of survival and tetanus also kills the mother.
How does Key Club help? With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International
and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate
maternal and neonatal tetanus. It will take $110
million to fund all the vaccines, syringes, safe
storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff &
more—and the dedicated work of UNICEF and
every member of the Kiwanis family.

What is your favorite quote?
“It doesn’t matter how you get knocked down in life. All that matters is that you’ve got to get up.” ~Ben Affleck If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
If I had a superpower, I’d definitely love telekinesis. It would make life so much easier… I would no longer be limited by my two hands. Oh, and it’ll be just like Chronicle. Just sayin’.
If you were stuck on an island, what three items would you bring with you?
If I were stuck on a deserted island, I’d bring a knife, a lighter and socks. A knife and lighter could do like anything in the wilderness, and socks… Well… I just want to bring my socks. I wanna.
What is your favorite part of Key Club?
My favorite part of Key Club is how we are not just volunteers, but something more. We are like a huge extended family that is dedicated to their community and to make a positive change in the world. And we are proud of it, we dedicate events like DCON to celebrate our love for volunteering and community service, and I think that that is just truly amazing.

DISTRICT CONVENTION GET READY TO DIVE INTO SERVICE!
Mark your calendars for March 22nd- 24th , 2013! Pacific Northwest District Convention (DCON) 2013 is approaching faster than you may realize! The PNW District Board wants Key Club to experience the deeper meaning of service and dive into another great year with Key Club. Yes, you guessed it! The DCON 2013 theme is ‘Diving into
Service’! This is the time of year when members get to meet other Key Clubbers form the PNW, learn more about service projects, have the chance to show their divisional spirit, and elect the 2013-2014 District Board! One District Convention Chair, Andy Nguyen, and the rest of this District Board are working hard to put together a great DCON (so you don’t want to miss out on this!)
It is important for members to make sure to stay in contact with their Lt. Governor on whether they are on the right track to DCON. Communication within each division is very important in order to stay updated on DCON. Lastly, the Call to Convention video is out! So, get a sneak peek into the whole experience by watching the PNW Call to Convention 2013 video on YouTube! See you all at DCON!
