Thispassagehashistoricallybeencalled‘Jesus’HighPriestlyPrayer’.ObviouslyJesus’prayersaremodelsofhowwemightpraysoitservesuswelltotakeadeeperlookatthispassagebeforeus.ThisisalsoaprayerthattakesplacesoonbeforeJesuswouldreturntoHisFather’sside.ThereforeitwouldseemtoholdincreasedsignificanceasitisoneofthelasttimeswehearfromJesusandindeedthelongestprayerthatwehaverecordedofHis.SearchdeeperintothisprayerandaskJesustoteachyouaboutprayer!

3.Sanctifythembytruthvs.17‐19MainIdea:Onceagain,isn’titinterestingtolookatthatforwhichHepraystotheFather?Sanctify‐‘tosetapartforHoliness’.‐Heknows2000yearsbeforeourtimethattheconceptof‘Truth’wouldbecrucialtoourgrowthinfaith.Todaythereisabattle,(rememberpoint#1)fortruthandtheoutcomeofthebattlewilldeterminetheoutflowofjoyintoourlives(#2).Thebattlefortruthisamajorcomponenttooursanctification.
