TheExoceatfeaturesaspecialairinletwhichisresultoftwoimportantrequirements:first,itmustbesmoothandlowdrag,andsecond,itmustprovidemaximumpressuretothefaringregardlessofitspositionintheairduringharnessmovement(yaw,pitch,orthermallingpositions).

ReservedeploymentisaveryrealscenarioinhighlevelcompetitionandXCflying,andprovidingforthewidestrangeofimaginablereservedeploymentsituationswasintegraltotheExoceat’sdevelopmentanddesign.Thelow-dragambidextrousdouble-bombbayreservedesignwascreatedtoprovideeasyandfastopeninginloworhigh-Gsituations.Withtwoparachutesinstalleddeploymentcanbewitheitherhand,thisisusefulinhighGsituationswhereaccesstoonesidecanbeimpossible,orifthefirstparachutefailstodeploycleanly.

TheMoussebagisgenerouslypaddedundertheseatoftheharnessandalongtheentirelengthoftheback.ItisENandLTFcertifiedwithamaximumloadof125kgsandmeetsorexceedsCIVLSection7competitionharnessrequirements.

Theflightdeckhasbeenpositionedsothatitisoriented90degreestothepilot’slineofsight.Thisisimportantforreadingmoderninstru-mentseasilyinbrightsunlight,asitensurestheminimumamountofglareandreflection.Thecockpitfloatsinfrontofthepilot,evenwhenloadedwithballastitdoesnotrestonthepilot’slegsallowingfreedomofmovementandcomfortduringlongflights.

SPEED SYSTEMRoutethespeedsystemlinethroughbothpulleysoneachside.Thefirstpulleyislocatedinsidethepodattherearoftheseatplate.Thesecondisclosetothelumbersupportattachment.Ensurethelinesruncleanlybetweenthepulleysandpassontheoutsideofallstructuralwebbingstraps.Double-checkthelineshavenotinadvertentlywrappedaroundthestructuralwebbing.Feedthelinethroughtheholeonthesideofthepod.(3)

IMPORTANT: The speed bar lines must be of equal length, ensure they are not too short as this will inadvertently activate the speed system when under tension in the air. Always double-check lengths and symmetry whilst on the ground before flying.

Onceintheair,andwhenitissafetodoso,checkthatyoucanplaceyourfootonthebareasilyandthatthesystemoperatessmoothlyallthewaytofullspeedwithoutexcessivefriction.The3stepsystemisfullyadjustable,eachstagecanbesettopreference.

TheExoceatfeaturesintegralreservecontainersfortwoparachutes.Theinnovativesystemusesbombdoorsthatfullyopenoncethepinisremoved,soeveninhighGsituationstheparachutescanbedeployedfreelywitheitherhand.Thebombdoorcontainershavelargevolumes,enoughtofitalltypesofmodernparachutes.

Theparachute(s)needtobeinstalledpreciselyusinganewandinnovativemethod,sopleaserefercarefullytotheinstructionalvideoforclearvisualinstructions.Whendeliveredbothparachutecontainersareclosedcorrectly.Takenoteoftheoveralllookandpayattentiontothetrellisthreadpatternandwherethereservehandlebridleemergesfromthebombdoor.

Attachthebridlestotheappropriateattachmentpointswithasuitableconnector(notsup-plied).TheattachmentpointsarelocatedontheshoulderstrapsundertheVelcroflaps.ThebridlesshouldthenberoutedalongtheprotectiveVelcrochannel.

Makesuretheharnessbridlesareattachedtotheparachute’sbridleusingasuitableconnector(notsupplied).

AttachthedeploymenthandletothedeploymentbagofyourreserveparachuteusingaLark’sfootorsmallconnecter.

Placethedeploymentbagintothebombdoorcontainer,thereservehandleshouldbefacingtowardsthefrontofthebombdoor.

TheparachutecontainerisclosedbythreadingtheblueDyneemaloopsinatrellislikepattern.It is strongly recommended to watch the Video and follow the instructions carefully at this point.

Startatthefrontendofthecontainerdoorsandidentifythefirstloops(1andA)byfollowingthecentralseam.Theprocesscanbestartedbyhandbutitisbesttousethesmalllengthsofplastictohelpwiththethreading.

BeginbythreadinglineAthroughline1;then2throughA;Bthrough2;3throughBandsoon.

Afteryouhavepassedtheyellowline6throughlineE,tieaknotinthesmallpieceofplasitc.Thiswillkeeptheloopssecuresoyoucanmoveontothenextstage.

IMPORTANT: Do not snag the blue Dyneema line with the end of the plastic and do not twist the loops as you thread them.

Nowyouarereadytosecuretherearoftheparachutecontainer.Again,usethestitchinginthecentreofthebottompaneltoidentifythestartingpoint.Loopthethreadsusingthesametechniqueasbefore.

Becarefulwhenyoureachthecorner.Thereservebridlesfromtheshoulderstrapsshouldberoutedthroughthispointandthethreadpatternmustbefollowedaccurately.

Beforearrivingattheyellowlineonthetoprow,makesurethereservehandlebridleexitsthebombdoorsinthepositionshown.Completethetoprowthreading,leavingthepieceofplasticintheyellowlooptostopthethreadsundoingthemselves.

Installthehandlebyfeedingthereservepinfirstthroughtheupperchannelsewnintotheharnessandthenthroughthetopyellowloop.Oncetheendofthepinisthroughtheupperyellowlooptheplasticcanberemoved.

FITTINGEN

Toputtheharnessonfirstplacetheshoulderstrapsoveryourshouldersandbringtheleg/cheststrapthroughyourlegs.

Fastentheleg/cheststrapbuckles.Ensurethatthebucklesareclosedproperly,there isanaudibleclickwhentheyarelockedinplace.

AttachthecockpitusingthelargebluezipsonbothsidesTheautomaticpodclosingsystemcannowbeconnected.Firstputthemalebuckleofthelefthandpodthoughtheloopfoundonthefrontrighthandsideofthecockpitandfastenittothefemalebuckle.

Nowsecuretherighthandpodwiththeeyeletattachedtobluelineonthelefthandpodthroughthebluelooponthelefthandpod.

Theshoulderstrapretainerclipshouldnowbefastened.

Repeatthesameprocessfortheloweryellowloopandreservepinchannel.Thistimetheloweryellowloopisthreadedfirst,beforeslidingthepinthroughthelowerchannel.

PushthehandleintoitssecuringslotbysqueezingthemetalloopstofitandattachtheVelcro.Thecompletedsystemshouldlookexactlyasshown.

Doublecheckeverythinglooksvisuallycorrectandthenmakeatestdeployment.Makesureyouperformapracticethrowfromastatichangpoint.Notonlydoesthisensurethecorrectfunctioningofyourdeploymentsystemitalsoallowsyoutobecomemorefamiliarwiththeinstallationprocess.Doublecheckthatthehandleandpinreleaseeasilyandthethreadedloopsunfoldthemselveswithoutrestriction.

Ifonlyonereserveisfitted,thereservedummyreserveshouldbeinstalledintheunusedside,thiswillhelptokeeptheshapeandformoftheharness.Securethedummywiththesuppliedsparereservepintoreducethechancesofaccidentallydeploying(andthuslosing)thesparereservehandle.

Beforeyourfirstflight,werecommendtosuspendtheharnessfromasuitablystrongpointtocheckthatitfitsyoucorrectlyandtobecomefamiliarwiththefeaturesandadjustments.Youcansettheshoulderadjustment-strapstofindthebestfit,andadjustthelumbersupportsothattheyleaveyouinacomfortablyreclinedposition.

ADJUSTMENTSEN

HANG POINT HEIGHTTheheightofthehangpointscanbesetonthegroundwiththeadjustmentsmadeonthesideofthestructuredirectlyunderneaththehangpoints.Changesmadeherehaveadirectaffectonthefeel,rollstabilityandfeedbackoftheharnesssopayattentionandonlymakeincrementalchangesbetweenflights.We recommendstarting in theposition shownandadjusting to your taste fromthere.Loweringthehangpointwillmaketheharnessmorerollunstablewhilstraisingwillincreasestability.

LEG SUPPORT ANGLETheangleoftheseatplatecanbeadjustedforcomfortandhandling.Tighteningthestrapswillraisetheknees,whilstreleasingthestrapswilllowerthem.

FINE TUNING OF THE PODMinorchangestotheoveralllengthofthepodcanbemadewiththeadjustmentstraps.

IMPORTANT: Any adjustments should be symmetrical, make sure both sides are equal. When fine tuning the harness, take your time to find the position that suites you best, only make small, incremental adjustments.

Beforeyourfirstflight,werecommendtosuspendtheharnessfromasuitablystrongpointtocheckthatitfitsyoucorrectlyandtobecomefamiliarwiththefeaturesandadjustments.Youcansettheshoulderadjustment-strapstofindthebestfit,andadjustthelumbersupportsothattheyleaveyouinacomfortablyreclinedposition.

SHOULDER STRAPSThe length of the Shoulder straps can bemodified using the adjustment straps. Adjust theshoulderlengthssothattheharnessfeelscomfortablysnugwhenstandingup.Theedgeoftheseatplateshouldbenearthebackofyourkneesbutnotbelowthem.Whilstsuspendedintheseatedpositionensurethestrapsarecomfortableandsupportive,theyshouldnotbetootightnortooloose.

LUMBER SUPPORTTheLumbersupportshouldbeadjustedforacomfortableflyingposition.Preciseadjustmentscanbemadeintheairsothatyourlowerbackiscompletelysupportedandthereisnotensioninyourstomachmuscles.Besuretoadjustthelumbersupportscarefully,settingthemtooloosewillresultinaveryreclinedpositionintheair.

LEG STRAPS/CHEST STRAPThe length of the leg straps and chest strap affects the overall stability of the harness. Formaximumweightshiftthecheststrapandlegstrapsshouldbeleftintheirlongestposition.Forgreaterrollstabilitythestrapscanbetightened.Itisimportanttotestflyandadjusttofindthepositionthatisbestforyourstyleofflyingandoverallcomfort.

Theflightdeckhasbeenpositionedinthepilot’slineofsight.Thisisimportantforreadingmoderninstrumentseasilyinbrightsunlight,asitensurestheminimumamountofglareandreflection.Thecockpitfloatsinfrontofthepilot,evenwhenloadedwithballastitdoesnotrestonthepilot’slegsallowingfreedomofmovementandcomfortduringlongflights.ItfeaturesaremovableVelcroinstrumentboardandinternalpocketsforstoringsparebatteriesetc.Itcomeswithremovableexternalstrapsthatcantoattachedtotheshoulderstraps,theseareespeciallyusefulforsmallerpilotswhoneedtocarrypotentiallyheavyballasttohelpsupportthecockpitandkeepitawayfromthekneesandinterferingwiththetakeoffrun.

AIRTUBEInorderfortherearsectiontoremainwellinflated,itisimportanttokeepthetubefreeofobstructionsandtosurethatitisnotheavilykinkedwhenpackingtherearpocketwithyourbagetc.Positiontheendofthetubeasshown.Itcanbe‘locked’inplacewiththeVelcro.

HYDRATION ACCESS SYSTEMTheExoceatincludesahydrationaccesssystemconsistingofaninnerpocketlocatedintherearstoragepocket.Positionthezipsoftherearcompartmentsothedrinkingtubecanexitonthesideofyourchoice.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to route the drinking tube BELOW the reserve bridles

UNDERSEAT BALLAST BAG (OPTIONAL)Anoptional8ltballastbagcanbefittedunder theseat.Secure theballastbagusinga triangularmaillon attached to the loops in each corner. If fitted, double check that theballast bagwill notinterferewiththeoperationofthespeedsystem.Adjustmentmaybenecessary.

TheExoceatwill lastmanyflightsandmanyyearsif lookedaftercorrectly.Tokeepyourharnesscleanandairworthy,pleasenotethefollowing:

INSPECTIONForsafety,routineinspectionofallofyourequipmentisvitallyimportant.Ozonerecommendsaserviceintervalof12monthsinadditiontotheusualpreflightchecks.Beforeeachflightvisuallyinspectthereservedeploymentsystem,theDyneemalinesshouldbevisuallyOKwithoutexcessivefrayingandthereshouldbenoobstructionswithinthetrellisthreads(twigsetc).

Foraperiodicthoroughinspection,visuallycheckthestitchingandgeneralconditionofthestructuralwebbing.Lookinthehardtoreachandstructurallyimportantareas.Payparticularattentiontothewebbingaroundthehangpointareasunderthecarabiners,thisiswhereabrasionismostlikely.

Thoroughlycheckthereservedeploymentsystem.Removetheparachute(s)toinspecttheDyneemaloops,theyshouldbevisuallyOKwithoutexcessivefrayingorobvioussignsofdamage.

Afewsparereplacementloopsaredeliveredwitheachharness:TypeAarethemostcommon,TypeBarelonger,theseareusedinthecornersandTypeCaretheyellowloopstoretainthereservehandlepin.Ifyouneedtochangealoop,makesuretousethecorrecttype.FullreplacementsetsareavailablefromyourOzonedealer.
