• Computer literacy is understanding the role and power of the computer and knowledge to use it by learning basic terminology and primary skills of computers

Literature ReviewLiterature Review

• During the late 1970s and early 1980s computers became more affordable to schools, permitting a rapid decrease in student-to-computer ratios

• Towards the end of the 1980s and into the 1990s while the computer literacy rationale remained(Hanna fin & Savenye, 1993s; Hussein, 1996s)

Continue…………..Continue…………..• The major rationale for having computers

in school was more concerned with the need to use computers to improve student learning(Welle-Stand , 1991s)

• Since the beginning of the 1990s educators have been particularly concerned that very little of the potential of computers to support learning in school seems to have been realized, despite a sufficient installed base of computers

Concept Of Computer Literacy Concept Of Computer Literacy In Pakistan In Pakistan

• Pakistan is a Third-World country with limited resources, but in spite of that, there are many fields in which computer is used

• During the late ten years a significant number of Pakistani libraries have also been enjoying the benefits of this technology

• With the inception of computer technology in libraries new terms like “Information Technology” have become common

Development Of Computer Development Of Computer literacy in Pakistanliteracy in Pakistan

• The new information technology/computer is intrinsic to national development and has an unavoidable influence on national culture. It is regarded as a powerful set of new media of potential benefit to teaching and learning

• In 1993s, a project titled “Computer Literacy” in Pakistan , s schools (CLIPS) was launched with the assistance of IBM, SEMEA, Karachi. IBM is providing 300 computers, 150 printers to 150 schools throughout the country free of cost

Continue………..Continue………..

• In 1995 another project on the “Introductory of Computer Studies as a Subject in Secondary Schools” has been launched by Ministry Of Science and Technology
