Charles Lindsey, Organist

Charles Knight Lindsey, Jr., is currently theorganist and choirmaster at St. Paul’s EpiscopalChurch, Bristol Parish, Petersburg, Virginia, andalso serves as staff accompanist for the vocaldepartment of Virginia Commonwealth University.

He received his Bachelor of Music degree at theUniversity of Richmond. He studied organ withLawrence Robinson and Suzanne Bunting; pianowith Helen Chance Hoffmann and Richard Becker;voice with Anne Brown, Catharine Kirby andMichele Harman-Gulick; and accompanying/vocalcoaching and early music with Kenneth Merrill ofthe Julliard Institute and Manhattan School ofMusic.

Charles is also an active collaborative concert artiston piano as well as solo recitalist on organ. Hisorgan CD, On a Slow Boat with Bach, wasrecorded on the E. M. Skinner/Allen renaissanceorgan of St. Paul’s, Bristol Parish, and features aneclectic mix of traditional organ music and his ownarrangements of popular tunes.

Individually the duo has been playingprofessionally for over 25 years and began workingtogether in 2003. They have appeared at CourtSquare Theater, Blackfriars Playhouse, PerformingArts Luray, Carnegie Hall (Lewisburg), theGreenbrier Resort, Jazz in the Park, Theater atLime Kiln, and clubs throughout the ShenandoahValley and central Virginia.

Da Capo

Da Capo is a fresh, young vocal quartet which hailsfrom the greater Washington, DC area. Allmembers of the group – Ryan Griffith (tenor),Anthony Colosimo (lead), Joe Sawyer (baritone),and Wayne Adams (bass) – are experienced,championship quartet singers. As a new quartet,these young men have found success in multiplevocal competitions. In 2011, Da Capo ranked assemi-finalists in the Barbershop Harmony SocietyInternational Quartet contest, received the Dealer’sChoice Award (an award for the highest rankingfirst time competitors at the International level),and was crowned Harmony Sweepstakes NationalChampions in a non-barbershop competitionagainst national a cappella acts.

Their passion for the history of vocal harmonytakes audiences on a refreshing journey spanningover a hundred years of vocal music. With songsranging from the early 1900s to songs on the radiotoday, Da Capo seeks to spread their joy of vocalharmony to new audiences all over the world. DaCapo strives to inspire the young and young-at-heart with history-rich storytelling and great vocalharmony.
