Dear Scholarship Committee:
I am writing this letter to highly recommend Charlene Nash for the TD
Scholarship. As assistant principal and teacher at Fatima Academy, I have
known Charlene for her entire school career. Now in her graduating year, I can
attest to the strong impact Charlene has had on our school.
Charlene has always excelled academically throughout her school years. She
has been an honors student since elementary and has been a strong role model
for her classmates and other students because of her strong work ethic and
unfaltering commitment to her academic pursuits. As well as her strong
academic performance, Charlene is a very active volunteer in our school, highly
involved in many of our extra and co-curricular programs. Over the course of
her junior and senior high career she has been involved in student council,
public speaking, yearbook, spirit days, school choir, school enhancement,
basketball, dance, cross-country, and numerous other activities. She not only
becomes involved in whatever is happening in our school but often takes the
initiative to spearhead such causes as food drives, Janeway fundraisers, and
other worthwhile ventures.
This year, Charlene was elected president of our Student Council, and already, in
a few short months, has had a very positive impact on the level of school spirit
and overall enthusiasm among our students. We are seeing a significant
increase in the involvement of other students in Student Council activities, and
this is due, not in small part, to Charlene’s positive attitude, her ability to
motivate and inspire others, and her strong and very evident commitment to all
the students from kindergarten to grade twelve.
Recommendation LettersI firmly believe that Charlene is highly deserving of this scholarship. I can attest
to her excellent record here at Fatima Academy. Her commitment to her school
is highly evident in the many volunteer hours she gives, not just to Fatima, but
to the surrounding school community as well. She has proven herself to be a
hardworking, dedicated, and self motivated individual who uses these strengths
to lead and motivate others. I am convinced that Charlene has a very bright
future in whatever career path she chooses and I am sure her strong work ethic
and commitment to volunteerism will not end once she graduates from our
school. I strongly recommend her for this scholarship. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kim Careen

Recommendation LettersMarch 15, 1998 To whom it may concern: I have taught Charlene for the past two years, and I have known her in the school capacity for 4 years prior to teaching her. I have also had the privilege of working on numerous school projects with Charlene. I am the teacher sponsor for Fatima Academy’s Student Council, as well as the school’s Yearbook Committee and Charlene plays a huge role in both of these programs. Throughout her entire school career Charlene has worked to build school spirit, and improve student life within her school community. She has worked endlessly with the other students to help foster a feeling of family within her school. At every school function Charlene’s voice can be heard above all the rest. At a basketball game one can be sure that Charlene will start a cheer of “Go Royals Go,” and ensure that the whole crowd joins in. For any school spirit day, Charlene will go above and beyond in costume design, and overall effort. Other students, seeing Charlene taking on this initiative, have started to join in her enthusiasm. Charlene’s ongoing efforts have definitely improved the overall school spirit and student life here at Fatima Academy. It can easily be said that the whole school community has been impacted by Charlene’s efforts. Not only have other students followed her example, but teachers, administration, and even members of the community have been impacted by Charlene’s unending parade of school spirit. For example, Fatima hosted the 3A Basketball Provincials this past March, and the amount of school spirit seen was tremendous. Staff, students and even community members were seen wearing Royal blue and cheering as loud as they could. Some even had their faces painted! I attribute this unprecedented amount of school spirit to the continuous efforts of Charlene Nash. I truly believe that Charlene Nash would be an excellent candidate to receive this award. Throughout the course of her high school career, she has gone above and beyond to enhance not only her own school life, but the lives of those around her as well. Charlene has worked tirelessly to ensure that student life at Fatima is something noteworthy. Her continuous efforts have proved time and time again to be successful. Her own spirit and love for her school shines through as soon as she enters a room, and this spirit has had a tremendous effect on the Fatima Academy school community. I believe that Charlene’s dedication to the Fatima school community makes her very worthy of this award, as her efforts have fostered the growth of school spirit at Fatima, thus creating a more enjoyable student life for her fellow students, and for those who follow in her footsteps. Sincerely, Melissa Coffey Fatima Academy
