ccsu woodwind audition music - fall 2018

Greetings! Attached is the audition music for this fall’s concert ensembles. There are two selections for the audition music, both are potential pieces that may be performed during the fall semester. A few things to clarify: -The audition excerpts are marked in red. They are selected from An Original Suite by Gordon Jacob and Wild Nights! by Frank Ticheli. Most have excerpts from both movements of the both pieces (with the exception of bass clarinet) -An Original Suite does not have any tempo markings on them (except for the clarinet part) – I have added tempo markings to all of the parts, but just to be sure, the first movement (March) has a tempo of quarter note = 120. The second movement (Intermezzo) has a tempo marking of quarter note = 80. -The tempo for Wild Nights! is marked as quarter note = 144. -In some cases, I have provided pages that may not have any excerpts on it – that is so you can listen to the recording of the piece and have a clear idea of where the excerpt will start. -Percussion excerpts consist of Snare Drum, Marimba, and Timpani – each part is marked. -Lastly, please don’t be overwhelmed by the audition music if you think that it is on the challenging side. This is a good way to gage where our strengths are and some areas that we need to work on. Everyone is going to do a fantastic audition!
