Guidelines for sick students1. DO NOT send your child to school if they have a fever. Body
temperature 37.5 C and higher (taken via oral thermometer) OR 38 C and higher (taken via ear thermometer) is considered a fever.
2. DO NOT send your child to school if he / she has a cough, runny nose, diarrhea, rash, or is feeling generally unwell. Unfortunately, one child’s illness can spread to the whole class.
3. DO NOT give your child Panadol, Tylenol, Calpol or a cough suppressant in the morning and then send him / her to school. Medications only mask an illness and by lunchtime the student will feel unwell again.
4. DO NOT come to school to pick up your child if the nurse has not called you. If your child calls you and asks to be picked up because he or she is not feeling well, please reconfirm with the nurse.
5. Please notify the nurse if your child is absent for more than two days in a row or if your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness such as chicken pox, impetigo, herpangina (blisters or ulcers in mouth), or hand, foot and mouth disease.
6. If your child has an undiagnosed rash or red itchy eyes with more than usual discharge please take him/her to the doctor to be diagnosed before returning to school.
Good to know CDNIS fever policyPre Rec to Grade 2 - students should be fever free for 48 hours before they can resume school .
Grade 3 and above - students should be fever free for 24 hours before they can resume school.
CDNIS mask free policyCDNIS (Lower school) is a mask free school. DO NOT send children with flu symptoms to school wearing mask. If a child is sick enough to wear a mask, then the child is sick enough to stay at home.

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) The quality and condition of Hong Kong’s air fluctuates on a daily basis, and differs considerably from area to area. The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) is issued by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of Hong Kong to provide a simple and uniform way to report daily air pollution concentrations and to serve as a basis for issuing advice to the public before the onset of air pollution episodes. The school monitors these levels daily using data from the Central and Western Stations. CDNIS uses the following guidelines to safeguard students:
Weather policy - rainstorm and typhoon warning signals The guidelines below are an indication for closure during adverse weather conditions. The school will always put safety first to safeguard student welfare under any circumstances. Please check the school website for real time updates.

Literacy CommitteeThe Literacy Committee hosts Lit Blitz, a three-week festival of reading, books and imagination. It also supports student literacy programs at CDNIS throughout the year. Family Fun FairCISPA hosts a school-wide, highly anticipated Family Fun Fair every year. This mega-event has games, arts and crafts, special performances, and tasty treats. There is something for everyone! Chinese New Year FairThe CISPA Chinese New Year Fair celebrates Chinese culture at CDNIS. Delicious dumplings, a New Year’s “market” with toys, New Year’s decorations, crafts and candies, as well as a flower market lead up to the Lunar New Year.
Welcome CommitteeThe Welcome Committee organizes social activities and outings for CDNIS parents throughout the year, taking special care of families new to CDNIS. Chinese Studies CommitteeThis Committee works hard to support our children’s Mandarin studies. They coordinate Mandarin Readers, supervisors for the Chinese Homework Club, and hold fun contests throughout the year to encourage written and spoken Chinese. Staff Appreciation CommitteeThis Committee dreams up ways to say ‘Thank You’ to the hard working administrators, educators, and staff at CDNIS. Themed lunches and treat days are the much-loved work of this group.
What does CISPA do?
Communications/IT CommitteeThe CISPA website, Beat newsletter, Facebook Parent Pinboard, and other parent information services are managed by this Committee. It also produces a yearly calendar, maintains the Parent Handbook, and supports Committees with web and IT related needs.
Outreach Initiatives Advisory CommitteeThis Committee assists by funding student or faculty-led charitable initiatives or projects. Lost & Found InitiativeSeveral times a year, volunteers gather lost items around the school and match them to their owners. This helpful, eco-friendly enterprise makes a lot of parents happy.
Math CommitteeThe Committee supports school math initiatives such as March Into Math, 100th Day of School and Pi Day. It’s infinitely fun!
Digital Life CommitteeThis Committee runs a learn-to-code activity at the Family Fun Fair and encourages families to participate in the “Hour of Code” every December. The goal of this committee is to support parents in this brave new digital world.
Speakers’ NetworkThis Committee brings in speakers who present information on topics of interest to our parent community.
CISPA organizes these activities, and supports many more! Volunteer for CISPA and help build a vibrant, warm school community. To join any of these Committees, email cispa@cispa.hk.
