Why would you want to participate?

• You don’t have to participate… voluntary, market-driven approach

• Expect a value proposition back when participating

• Supply chain participation: different views bring different solutions

– Common goals: efficiency, profitability

– General Mills example: How do we make oats an attractive crop to grow? Yield and quality, agronomics, breeding

• ‘Sustainability’ is being tied to a broader program which is attractive to growers

Pulse Canada’s shift in approach: Focus on Food

• Reformulation with 20% Pea Flour

• Carbon footprint • HRS wheat: 492 g CO2/kg • Peas: 271 g CO2/kg • 9% reduction in C

footprint • 23% reduction when

considering rotational benefits to wheat
