The distinctive character of this stage isrough windswept moorland that opensout below the bulks of Skiddaw andBlencathra mountains. Between SkiddawHouse and Nether Row there is analternative low level route via WhitewaterDash waterfall for poor weather conditionsor the less intrepid. Heather-clad slopesand extensive views across to the distantNorth Pennines via the infant River Caldewand an ascent of High Pike - the highestpoint of your journey at 685 metres.
