Bridges Development in Chhattisgarh (The way to growth and development of the state)

The Central government has decided to carry out

the construction of roads and bridges

development in Chhattisgarh mainly of LWE

areas through close cooperation and coordination

among various agencies and use of modern

technology.

The work will employ a number of local tribal youth

contractors for the development works.

The authorities has always concerned about the

development work carrying out in these conflict areas,

especially the Maoist-hit areas. Due to threat perception,

contractors always hesitate to take up development

works in Naxal-infected zones.

The phase-1 project, only around 3,200 km of the

5,477-km sanctioned stretch had been completed in 34

Naxal-affected districts. In 2009, this was done during

the UPA-led Congress regime.

During the second phase of the project, 7,294 km of

road and 48 new bridges will be built in eight states.

The total cost of phase-2 is estimated around Rs 10,700

crore. This decision was taken place effort to escalate

road and bridges development in Chhattisgarh works in

the places which are affected by Left Wing Extremism

(LWE).

economic opportunities.

The two successful projects which were completed by

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited

(IL&FS Engineering Services) in Chhattisgarh regarding the

Bridges development in Chhattisgarh for Rehabilitation and

Upgrading of Rajnandgaon to Mohla Section (from Km.0.00

to Km. 72.40) from NCC Limited in August, 2006.

Another project was for the ‘Rehabilitation

and Upgrading of Road from Mohla

(Km.72+400) to Maharashtra Border

(Km.110+590) from Public Works Department

(PWD), Chhattisgarh in August, 2006.
