Location Brazil is located in South America. Borders all the countries of South America

except Chile and Ecuador. The countries that border Brazil are

Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and the Atlantic Ocean.

Brazil is 10 degrees south and 55 degrees west on a world map.

Cultures and languages The official language of Brazil is

Portuguese and its spoken by 99% of the population.

Some of the cultures are Italian, German, Spanish ,Ukrainians , Polish, Arab and Japanese.

Climate Experiences rainfall about 1,000 and 1,500

mm annually but mostly occurring in the summertime.

The Amazon region usually gets a rainfall of more than 2,000 mm but closer to 3,000 mm towards western Amazon annually.

The seasons of Brazil are reverse of what Europe and the United States experience.

Amazon Rainforest

Population and Job Types 190 Million by 2010 Immigration played a big factor during colonial

times but still plays a major factor today as well. A few jobs here are agricultural jobs, working in

the tourist industry teaching English, becoming an au pair (living with a family and taking care of their children) and white collar and blue collar jobs (jobs in computers, research, mining, education, marketing, manufacturing and oil processing)

Human Interaction Since the climate is hot and tropical

people tend to wear light clothes and clothes that have cool colors.

The water is contaminated so people have to clean the water before they drink it or drink polluted water.

Environment interaction The environment has a deforestation

problem going on in the Amazon. 66% of Brazil territory is covered in forest but clearing and burning the trees was at a all time high in 1970’s and 1980’s.

Most of the clearing and burning of the trees were due to the activity that was done by ranchers and the techniques farmers had used.

Movement Is very dependent on importing of some goods

to support the countries industry demand. The goods that are imported are the products

that they need but does not produce. Export- coffee beans, shoes, plane parts,

Brazilian nuts and soybeans. Import- Machinery, electrical and

transportation equipment, chemical products, and oil.

Movement Brazil imports from the United States. Exports from the United States. Brazil’s biggest trading partner is the

United States.

Regions The northeast experiences very hot

weather without any wind. South region is different from the rest of

the country. This region has a temperature climate. In the summer its very humid and hot and in the winter its really cold.

Regions Southeast- is diverse with the temperature that

follows the three main factors (the latitudinal, the topography and the influence of disturbed circulation systems.) But the strongest temperature is tropical climate.

Midwest- Very hot during the summer and has 2 main characteristics- it rains 4 straight months ( December- March) and the months between (April and June) there is a climate switch where its very cold in the morning, very hot during midday and cold again at night.
