SYSTEMS IN SPORT

Chose a team based on Talent!

Mistakes made 3. RAIN DELAY COSTS PROTEAS (England v South Africa, 1992 semi-final, Sydney Cricket Ground)England advanced to the final after beating South Africa in controversial circumstances in their semi-final in Sydney. After a 12-minute rain delay, the Proteas' victory target was revised from 22 runs from 13 balls to an impossible 22 runs from one ball. This rule was replaced for one-day international matches in Australia after the 1992 tournament, with the Duckworth-Lewis method coming into effect for the 1999 event onwards. England went on to lose the final by 22 runs to Pakistan in Melbourne.

Again….

But the Proteas also let several crucial chances go begging. The first came in the 32nd over when de Villiers fumbled the ball as he was about to remove the bails at the non-strikers end. Anderson was well short of his ground but de Villiers fumbled the throw, breaking the stumps with his arms before he grasped the ball.

The 2015 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was dotted with spectacular performances with the bat. Several batsmen achieved remarkable highs. While the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Martin Guptill produced record-breaking performances, others like Brendon McCullum showed aggressive intent resulting in entertaining knocks. The Associates weren't too far behind either. Samiullah Shenwari, Paul Stirling and Kyle Coetzer played wonderful hands, while Shaiman Anwar's consistency earned him praise.
