Bookstart RhymetimesSinging rhymes and songs together is a lovely way to bond
with your child and will help them learn how to talk.Sharing books, stories, songs and rhymes builds vocabularyand the language and listening skills which are essential in
getting children ready to enjoy school.
All members of the family can join in the fun, including mentoo! So ask them to give it a try. They will really enjoy it, andshow that books, stories, songs and rhymes are for everyone
and not only for mummies.
Play and sing rhymes duringnappy changing, bath times, on journeys or as you prepare a meal
If they are not in themood, leave it and tryagain another time
Try using funny voices.
Don't be shy- just give
it a try
Make it special-turn off the TV and Radio so you can hear properly
Look carefully at
the illustrations
and talk about the
pictures together
When friends andfamily visit, getthem to join in too!
Most of all, have fun!See the back of the book for tips for groups.
