Prof. M. H. Krishnaiah,former president, KarnatakaSahitya Academy.
Speaking about the book,Prof. Krishnaiah mooted the ideaof making it a part of schoolcurricula as it had nuggets ofwisdom that could lay the
foundation for character buildingand creating an ethical society.
Dr. K. Radhakrishnan,Advisor, Department of Space, and former chairman, ISRO,who released the book said thework should not be limited toa Kannada translation, as everycitizen should know the value of

the heritage of India; Bhavanshould take a lead in this regard. The younger generation shouldlearn to “read” and Bhavan shouldbecome a forum for literaryactivities, he said.
Recalling his school dayswhen students were asked towrite a piece taken from Bhavan’sJournal daily, Dr. Radhakrishnansaid the exclusivity of the language(Samskritam) was perhaps ahindrance for the spread of ancientIndian knowledge.
Citing the various streams oflearning such as Ayurveda, asespoused by Charaka andShushrusha, Artha Shastra ofChanakya, Brihat Samhita ofVaraha Mihira on science,
Natya Shastra of Bharata Munion performing arts, and SangitaRatnakara of Saarangadeva onmusic, he said all of them hadrelevance today, needing anexhaustive revival.
A fitting closure to thecompact, intellectually-orientedfunction was the recitation ofVishnu Sahasranama bySandipani Gurukula, befittingthe occasion.
