INTRODUCTION_
Picture a house of the purest design. Flat planes of stone and glass, infi-nite pools and courtyards, cushioned by rolling green slopes.
Terrace, cloisters and entertaining spaces that blur the division between indoors and out. A home of flawless luxury and style set in extravagant, sweeping grounds.
The simple, minimal design of the houses is the embodiment of Martin Gomez’s architecture over the past 20 years of practice in Punta del Este and the world.
Orthogonal geometry reigns supreme in the definition of the vol-umes; the resulting objects conceal their function while flaunting the geometric purity of their forms.
Maximalist Austerity
Martin has flared for harmony, ma-terials, textures, colors, warmth and detail, and understands how to de-liberately showcase some elements and conceal others.
Bodrum’s architecture is human,It possesses many qualities that we value in people.
It is calm, yet determined. It is reliable yet surprisingIs it sensual, but discreetly so.It is sober yet spiritedIn other words it is like a good friend.

Beauty is such a still thing that it requires stillness to be recognized.
The beauty in Martin Gomez’s work is the natural outcome of a con-ceptual process, which focuses on achieving maximum depuration without any sort of design trickery.

Authenticity, we might call it.
After all, we don’t always have to wait for time to pass to know something will last._

Simple, calm, harmonious, serene, lucid and sensual, not to mention luxurious, tasteful and extremely attentive to detail combines austerity and aestheticism, and brings both to bear in even measure.
A preference for good quality, natural materials, ones that are honest, a bit rough around the edged, untreated if possible, and highly tactile.

A house that makes time, light, space, proportion and nature present.
Some things tend to fascinate us at first glance.
Sometimes the fascination lasts throughout the first encounter.

Sometimes it lasts through countless encounters from them on. So, do we love things that last, or do the things we love end up lasting? Eitherway, time can be taken as a measure, to determine the empathy level between us and what is around us._

The luxury of open space and visual simplicity arrives through hidden complexity of meticulous planning and programming.
The process of simplification is not a form of simplism or indolence.
The decision to choose silence is a conscious one, and the power of the atmosphere is a direct result of the materials used and the opportunities offered by the space.
It is rare to encounter an architect who consistently and rigorously seeks to reduce space to its most basic forms, while remaining acutely sensitive to the human experience of that space. The results are at once sublime and rich, minimal yet tactile.
Martin celebrates the essence of form and the richness of space, the elegance of proportion and the refine-ment of materiality and hidden details.

Stone and drifts of flowers. Wood and water. Formal and casual. Substantial walls and willowing drapes.
The stone vernacular of Bodrums architecture floats on flowers, touches the earth and provides a stylish home.

ORJIN BODRUM PROJECT | BIOGRAPHY
MARTÍN GOMEZ_
_
It is not usual to find that the same line of action and thought will impregnate a trademark in a city. Rarer still is that one person can exercise a decisive influence on it. However, that is the case of Punta del Este and the architect Martín Gomez.Obsessed by being able to contextualize his works within the landscape in which he is immersed, Martín Gomez takes his work for more than just simple orders. They turn into a complex process in which the architect, interior, landscape and graphic designer tasks overlap. His projects are tinted with an original-ity that mainly parts of the use of natural resources in direct communication with their surroundings. The most striking abil-ity of his proposal is the talent to display in time a common thread throughout all of his projects, regardless of the type, the scale, the context or their materiality.Elegance, equilibrium and contempora-neity emerge from a volcanic, eruptive and energetic personality.
A still photograph cannot give a full sense of Martin’s spaces, which are only wholly appreciable through personal experience, with mutating light conditions. The refined use of light, shadow and filters are active elements of his projects. An architecture so modest and yet so present requires someone with equally strong personality to create with it.Buildings are seen but space is navigated and felt. To perceive space is to sense the void as well as the solid, the materiality of light, and the fluidity of volume. The work of Martin Gomez distils percep- tion within gestural vocabulary of light, move-ment and surface. Disarmingly simple at first glance, these projects possess a rigorous composition of layered depth, with a vein of playfulness, lurking, just beneath the surface.
A perfectionist in a natural way.
An electrified tabula rasa.
An attention on surface and the skin of things.
An atemporal vision.
Mistery resolved.
