Celebrating Achievement, Effort and Service
K/1Marvellous Pickle and Jam team
We have been very fortunate to have people make lots of
goodies for us to sell. Particularly Mrs Krzyszton, Mrs Williams,
Mrs Wallis, Mrs Chisholm, another Mrs Wildman, Mrs Cairns,
Mrs Ayo, Ms Richards and Mrs Flexman’s friend Gill.
They have contributed in an amazing way so that K/1M will have
a wonderful assortment and variety of close to 400 jars of
produce to sell on Fete Day. Mrs Flexman, Courtney (Lylah’s
Mum), Bronte’s Grandma, Stephanie Tait-Wildman and
Monique had a great day prettying up and preparing our
donations for sale. We are all so happy team K1Marvellous is
ready to go and we hope to raise lots of money for BEPS.
2C
Sienna McGrath from 2C has been making great progress in Multilit with
Mrs Walker. She has been very focused over the last week and has been
putting in a huge effort. Well done Sienna!
4/5W and K/1M
Buddy reading in Book Week
What a great day to share a book. Despite the looming clouds and
the threat of rain, the weather held off while we shared our favourite
Mr Men books with members of K/1M.
Thank you K/1M for being such good listeners.
Thank you to Mrs Watson for organising this opportunity to share our
love of reading.

5/6T & 6G
Holly Richmond, 6G has consistently achieved extremely high results in recent
times tables challenges between 5/6T and 6G. In just one minute she has now
successfully completed 53 correct answers. Harry Paag in 5/6T has also
achieved extremely high results. Harry and Holly are battling it out to be the
champion within both classes.
Most impressively, both classes have continued to improve their average and will
soon be times tables experts!
5/6T Achievements
5/6T are celebrating efforts with the Mathletics program. We have been working
hard to achieve bronze, silver and gold certificates. Here are some of our class
members with their certificates. Well done! Keep up the hard work 5/6T.

State Girls Touch Carnival
Zara Ebeling and Natasha Watson enjoyed a week recently at
Coffs Harbour completing in the NSW PSSA Touch carnival
representing Sydney West who finished in 6th place overall.
Both girls enjoyed the touch and meeting new friends.
Well done girls!
District Athletics
On Friday, September 2nd 2016, 46 of our students represented our school at the Blue Mountains PSSA
Athletics Carnival. I commend all of our students on their courageous participation and sportsmanship.
Despite the awful weather conditions, the students showed up and gave 110% effort in all of their events.
We had outstanding results from the day, with TEAM BLAXLAND
EAST gaining first place overall, beating second place by almost 200
points!
This was a team effort. Congratulations to every single competitor on
helping us achieve this amazing result.
A big congratulations to Zara Ebeling for winning Senior Girls Age
Champion and Jessica Stevens for winning Junior Girls Age
Champion. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of
them both.
More fantastic achievements were made by Natasha Watson, who broke two event records, one in the
Senior Girls Shot Put (7.80m) and one in the Senior Girls Discus (24.95m). Jessica Stevens also broke an
event record in the 10 years Girls 100m event (15.52). Congratulations to you both, your names are now
part of PSSA Athletics history! Well done!
We have 17 students who have qualified for the Sydney West Regional Carnival, which will
be held on Wednesday, September 14. Good luck to all of these competitors, we wish you all
the best and hope this time you have a sunny day!

Blue Mountains and Nepean Dance Festival 2016
On Monday evening, at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, BEPS dance groups were ready to
amaze the audience with their spectacular, fantastic, jaw-dropping dance moves.
Firstly, the senior girls danced to “70’s Groove” in
their Austin Powers inspired clothes. The audience
was astounded by their groovy moves.
Next, the boys crept onto the stage to take their
positions. When the stage lights were turned on the
zombie apocalypse began to the tune “Thriller”. The
audience was on the edge of their seats in fear as
the well-prepared group powered through their
“deadly” performance.
The junior girls looked in character dressed in their jungle outfits. They danced to “Jungle Party”.
They sure looked like they were enjoying themselves in party-mode.
All the dance groups went well and the
audience loved their performance. It was a
great experience for all the dancers.
Mrs Bryan and the teachers were proud of all
the students who represented BEPS with
great behaviour and courageous participation.

A special thank you to Mrs Fisher, Hayley and Ryan's mum, for coming along to
each dance routine and helping with the boys makeup.

Seniors Concert at Blaxland Uniting Church
On Friday 26 August the Concert Band participated in
their 3rd event in less than two weeks. This event was
different – there was no competition, no ribbons and no
bus travel – just smiling and appreciative faces, tapping
toes and many rounds of applause.
The event was the concert for the Seniors Group at the
Uniting Church, across the road from our school. The
children got to experience real teamwork and
preparation, as we had to take everything we needed,
including the full percussion kit.
We turned many heads of the drivers who kindly stopped for us at the pedestrian crossing.
We educated our audience with introductions to the sections of the band.
Congratulations must go to Sophie and Sebastian for their explanation of the clarinet and its
history.
We sounded the best we have all term – perhaps we should compete in the church – the
acoustics seem to suit our group.
Following our performance we were thanked by seniors with a morning tea for the children. The chips,
cheezels and fairy bread are always a treat. The children were a credit to themselves and their families
as they thanked the ladies behind the serving table.
My thanks to Mr Smith for conducting the band on the day and to Miss Morris for
her assistance with the excursion.
The children finished the day with a band session where three new
pieces of music were handed out. These pieces will form the basis
for the Celebration Concert performance in November, so the need
for home practise in preparation for whole group rehearsal is still
present.
Yours in music,
Mrs Robyn Wallis

Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
My apologies, first of all, for missing two newsletters due to
illness. I was surprised at how unwell I quickly became, but
thankfully am on the mend now.
Thanks to all those parents who have wished me well in the
past weeks.
Well, it’s finally here, the 2016 Fete is tomorrow commencing at 10.00am. I know that an enormous
amount of work has gone into this event and the committee has worked extremely hard to make it
successful. I know the school will benefit from all the funds raised. The staff and students are always
extremely grateful for the support our P & C gives the school.
As you are aware, we now have a new electronic sign at the front of the school, a joint project between the
school and the P & C. We are very pleased to have been able to replace the old manual type sign with a
new updated version. Thank you to the P & C for sourcing this sign and giving us funds towards the
installation of it.
At the District Athletics, held at Blacktown in the rain last Friday, our students represented the school with
pride and fortitude. All our students participated courageously and showed excellence in their events.
Congratulations. Well done to those students who are moving on to the next level of Athletics, the
Regional Carnival. Special mention should be made of Zara Ebeling and Jessica Stevens who were
Age Champions, and Natasha Watson and Jessica Stevens who both broke records at District level,
despite the inclement conditions! Well done.
Another big thank you to the community for your patience and support of our office ladies as we
transitioned to the new accounting system. The transition has gone relatively smoothly, and we are happy
to have finally made it. Thanks to our wonderful office staff who have worked extra long hours to make
sure everything was ready and the transition smooth.
As we near the end of the term, please keep your eyes out for notes coming home, particularly for next
term’s events. Please check the Fridge Flyer and our Skoolbag App for coming events.
I hope to see you all at the Fete tomorrow.
Yours in partnership for quality education,
Kerry.
