WHAT CAME BEFORE?

1801 Introduced to US education by George Baron, a teacher at West Point.

First known as a blackboard, then later a chalkboard.

James Pillans Headmaster of the Old High School of Edinburgh, Scotland.

1980 Whiteboards using markers begin to replace chalkboards.
