1. SafetyRules

1.1.Itisthecompetitor’sresponsibilitytoreadandunderstandtherulesandstagebriefingssetforthbyBB3Gandagreetobesubjecttotheseruleswhileparticipatinginanevent.

1.2.AllBB3GproducedeventsarerunonCOLDRANGES.

1.3.DesignatedSafeAreas

1.3.1.TheSafeAreaswillbeclearlymarkedwithsigns.

1.3.2.BaggingandunbagginglonggunsshouldtakeplaceinSafeAreas.Itshalltakeplaceinasafedirection.

1.3.3.Ammunition,loadedmagazines,dummyroundsandloadedfirearmsshallnotbehandledinanySafeArea.

1.4.Transportingrifle,shotgunandpistol(carryfromvehicleorbetweenstages).

1.4.1.Riflesandshotgunsshallbepointedupordownunlesscased.

1.5.1.DuringtheCOF,acompetitormayberequiredtoabandonafirearminordertotransitiontoanother.AcompetitorshallnotengagetargetswithmorethanonegunintheirhandsduringaCOF.See10.16

1.5.2.Designatedcontainers/locationsdesignedtosafelyaccommodateabandonedfirearmsshallbeuniqueandpointedouttothecompetitorduringthestagebriefing.Firearmsshallbeabandonedineitherofthebelowconditions.

1.5.3.“Safe”

1.5.3.1.Pistolswithamanualsafetyshallbefullyengagedtosatisfythe“loadedonsafe”rule,regardlessofpassivesafeties.

1.5.3.2.Pistolswithoutamanualsafetyshallhavepassivesafetiesinoperationalconditiontomeetthesafety-engagedrequirement.Ifthepistolhasnomanualsafetyandtheonlymanualleverisade-cockingmechanism,itmustbeengagedandthehammermustbede-cockedtosatisfythesafetyengagedcondition.

2. RangeCommandsandProcedures

2.1.“MakeReady”:TheCOFbeginswiththe“MakeReady”commandandendsafterthe“Rangeisclear”command.

2.1.1.TheROwillgivethe“MakeReady”commandsignifyingthestartoftheCOFandthendirectandsupervisethecompetitorthroughtheprocessofpreparingandpositioningallfirearms.Theinitial“MakeReady”command

definesthestartoftheCOFregardlessofhowmanyfirearmsaresubsequentlyprepared,loaded,and/orstagedfollowingthatcommand.

2.2.“AreYouReady-Standby”:AfterthecompetitorhasstagedallfirearmstobeusedintheCOF,theROwillaccompanythemtothestartposition.TheROshallthenissuethecommands“AreYouReady”followedshortlyby“Standby”andtheactivationofthetimer.

2.2.1.Thelackofanynegativeresponsefromthecompetitorafterbeingissuedthe“AreYouReady?”commandindicatesthattheyfullyunderstandtherequirementsoftheCOFandarereadytoproceed.Ifthecompetitorisnotready,theyshallstate“No”or“NotReady”.CompetitorsshouldassumetherequiredstartpositiontoindicatetheirreadinesstotheRO.

2.3.“Stop”:AnyROassignedtoastagemayissuethiscommandatanytimeduringtheCOF.Thecompetitormustimmediatelyceasefiring,stopmoving,andwaitforfurtherinstructionfromtheRO.

2.4.“Squib”:AnyROmaycallsquibiftheysuspectacompetitor’sfirearmorammunitionisunsafe(e.g.a“squib”load),theROwilltakewhateverstepshedeemsnecessarytoreturnboththecompetitorandtherangetoasafecondition.

2.4.1.TheROmaygivesupplementalinstructiontosafelygroundthesuspectfirearminitsappropriatecontainer.ThecompetitormaycontinuetheCOFusingtheremainingfirearms.ThiswillnotbeconsideredROinterference.

2.4.2.TheROwillinspectthefirearmorammunitionafterCOF,andproceedasfollows:

2.4.2.1.IftheROfindsevidencethatconfirmsthesuspectedproblem,thecompetitorwillnotbeentitledtoare-shoot,butwillbeorderedtorectifytheproblem.Onthecompetitor’sscoresheet,thetimewillberecordeduptothelastshotfired,andtheCOFwillbescored“AsShot”,includingallapplicablemissesandpenalties.

2.4.2.2.IftheROdiscoversthatthesuspectedsafetyproblemdoesnotexist,thecompetitorwillhavetheoptiontore-shootthestage,orthetimewillberecordeduptothelastshotfired,andtheCOFwillbescored“AsShot”,includingallapplicablemissesandpenalties.

2.5.“IfYouAreFinished,UnloadandShowclear”:Ifthecompetitorhasfinishedshooting,theyshalllowertheirfirearmandpresentitforinspectionbytheROwiththe

muzzlepointeddownrange,magazineremovedortubeemptied,slide/boltlockedorheldopenandchamberempty.TheROwillinstructandaccompanythecompetitortosafelyunloadallfirearmsusedintheCOF.

2.5.1.Pistols:Releasetheslideandpullthetriggerwithouttouchingthehammerorde-cockerthenholsterthepistol

2.5.2.Rifle:BoltlockedbackORchambersafetyflaginserted.

2.5.3.Shotgun:BoltlockedbackORchambersafetyflaginserted.

2.5.4.Rifles/Shotgunsshallbecarriedmuzzleup/downwhenexitingthestage.

2.6.“RangeIsClear”:ThiscommandshallbeissuedonlyafterallfirearmshavebeenclearedbythecompetitorandRO.ThisdeclarationsignifiestheendoftheCOF.Oncethisdeclarationismade,officialsandcompetitorsmaymovedownrangetoscore,andresettargets.

2.7.DefaultStartPosition.ThecompetitorassumesthedefaultstartpositionunlessotherwisespecifiedintheWSB.

2.7.1.Handgunstart,thecompetitormuststanderect,facingdownrange,witharmshangingnaturallybythesides.

2.7.2.Rifleorshotgunstart,lowready.

2.8.TheWSBreadbytheROsupersedesthematchbookoranypreviouslypostedstageinformation.

3.Firearms

3.1.Allfirearmsusedbyparticipantsmustbeserviceableandsafe.ROsmaydemandexaminationofaparticipant’sfirearmorrelatedequipment,atanytime,tochecktheyarefunctioningsafely.IfanysuchitemisdeclaredunserviceableorunsafebyanRO,itshallbewithdrawnfromtheeventuntiltheitemisrepairedtothesatisfactionoftheRangeMaster.

3.1.1.Devicesthatincreasetheriskofunintentionaldischargesuchasbinarytriggersareprohibitedforcompetition.

3.1.2.Fullyautomaticfireisprohibitedunlessotherwisespecifiedbythematchdirector.

3.2.Competitorsmaychange/reconfigurefirearmsatanytimeduringtheeventprovidedtheyallfitintotheirregistereddivisionalrequirements.

3.3.Ifaparticipant’sfirearmbecomesunserviceableduringcompetition,andafirearmfittingtheshootersdivisioncannotbefound,theshootermayuseanyavailablefirearmwithRMapproval,butmayalsobemovedtoanotherdivisiondependingonthereplacementfirearmused.

3.4.Competitorsshallnotchangecaliberorgaugeduringthecourseofamatch.

3.4.1.Acompetitorwhosubstitutescaliber/gauge,ormodifies/substitutesafirearmoutsideofdivisionalrequirementswithoutthepriorapprovaloftheRMwillbesubjecttodisqualificationforunsportsmanlikeconduct.

3.5.Handgunswithstocksand/orforegripsofanykindarenolongerconsideredhandguns.

3.6.Rifles,PCCs,andshotgunsshallbefittedwithastock,enablingittobefiredfromtheshoulder.

3.7.Only1rifle,1PCC,1pistol,and1shotguncanbeusedonanystageinanycombination.

3.8.Silencersmaybeusedinanydivision,failuretoactivatethetimerresultsinshootingfornoscore.

4.HolstersandEquipment

4.1.Handgunholsters

4.1.1.Holstersmustbeabletosafelyretainthehandgunduringvigorousmovement.

4.1.2.Theholstermaterialmustcompletelycoverthetriggeronallsemi-automaticpistols.Revolverholstersmustcompletelycoverthetriggerandthecylinder.

4.1.3.Duetosafetyconcerns,shoulderholstersandcrossdrawholstersarenotallowed.

4.2.Chokes,slings,bi-pods,monopods,ammo/magholders,andflashlightsmaybeadded,removedorchangedatanytimeduringthematch,providingthattheyare

allowedinthecompetitor’sdivision.

4.3.Lightsandlasersshallnotbeoperatedonnon-designatednightstagesunlessshootingOpen,PCC,or2x4Open.Theymaybeattachedinanydivision.Failuretocomplywillresultinmovementtoopen.

4.4.Stagingshootingbags,mats,tripodsectisprohibitedpriortothebuzzer.

5.Ammunition

5.1.Tracer,incendiary,armorpiercing,bi-metal,andsteeljacketedorsteel/tungstencoreammunitionarespecificallyprohibited.

5.1.1.Magnetsareusedtocheckthis.Ifthebulletstickstoamagnetitisprohibited.

5.1.2.Violationofrule5.1areassesseda$100feeforeachsteeltargetdamaged.Fineswillbemadepayablethedayoftheoffense,matchDQisimmediate.

5.2.Pistol/PCCammunitionshallbe9x19mmorlarger.Maximumvelocity1600feetpersecond.

5.3.Rifleammunitionshallbe5.45x39mmorlarger(9x19mmisacceptable).

5.4.Pistolandriflecartridgesshallfireasingleprojectileonly.

6.DivisionalFirearmRequirements

6.1.BB3Gstaffreservestherighttoinspectanyfirearm(s)forcompliancetotherulesstatedbelow.FailuretosubmitfirearmsforinspectionshallresultinaneventDQ.

6.2.AlldivisionsmayonlyuselightsandorlasersondesignatednightstageswiththeexceptionofOpen,PCC,and2x4Open.

6.3.Open

6.3.1.Pistol

6.3.1.1.Nolimitationsonaccessories.

6.3.1.2.Pistolcalibershallnotbechangedduringtheevent

6.3.2.Rifle

6.3.2.1.Nolimitationsonaccessories.Riflesupportingdevices(i.e.bipods,etc.)maybeaddedorremovedatanytime.

7.4.ShootersareresponsibletolistentotheWSBandaskquestionspriortoreceivingthemakereadycommandregardingwhatfirearmsmayengagewhichtargetstoavoidproceduralpenaltiesormatchsafetypenaltiesincludingDQ.

8.Scoring

8.1.AnyscoringissuetheshooterdoesnotagreewithmaybeappealedtothestageCRO,andifnotresolved,thematchdirectororRM.Scoringdecisionsmaynotbearbitrated.

8.2.Eachstageistimepluspenalties.Maximumpointsareassignedbasedonthefastesttimeineachdivisionroundeddowntothenearestwholesecond.Forexample,astagecompletedin59.9secondswouldbeworth59points.Thetoptimeineachdivisionwouldreceive100%ofthosepoints.Thenextcompetitor’stimeisdividedintodeterminetheirpercentageofpoints.Ifsecondplacewas62.0secondsthentheywouldbe(59.9/62)*59=57.0016points.8.2.1.Stagepointsmaybefixedat100;however,itmustbeannouncedpriortomatchstart,andonstagebriefings.

8.3.Matchisscoredascumulativestagepointsineachdivision.

8.4.Alldivisionswillbescoredseparatelyregardlessofparticipation.

8.5.Targetsshallbeneutralizedtoavoidpenalties.

8.6.Examplesofneutralizingpapertargetsinclude:

8.7.2.TheROmayyellHITindicatingneutralizationoftargetiftheyarecertaintheplateturnedmorethan45degrees.

8.7.3.IntheeventthatashotKDturnslessthan45degrees,acompetitorhastwoalternatives:

8.7.3.1.TheKDisshotagainuntilitfalls.Inthiscase,nofurtheractionisrequiredandCOFisscoredasshot.

8.7.3.2.IftheKDisleftstanding,thecompetitormaychallenge

theRO’s45degreecall.Inthiscase,nopersonshalltouchorinterferewiththeKDorthesurroundingarea.IftheRangeMasterdeterminesthatthetargetdidnotturnmorethan45degrees,thetargetisscoredasmissed.

8.8.Longrangeflashingtargetsshallbestruckwithabullettoscore.

8.9.Staticplatesarestruckwithabullettoscore;individualstagesmayrequiremultiplehits.

8.10.ROsshouldcall“hit”toindicatetotheshooteraneutralizedtargetthatcannotbeviewedaftercompletionofCOF.

Examplesincludestaticsteel,flashtargets,flyingclaysetc.

8.11.CalibrationChallenges

8.11.1.If,duringaCOF,apopperdoesnotfallwhenhit,acompetitorhasthreealternatives:

8.11.1.1.Thepopperisshotagainuntilitfalls.Inthiscase,nofurtheractionisrequiredandtheCOFisscored“asshot”.

8.11.1.2.Thepopperisleftstandingbutthecompetitordoesnotchallengethecalibration.Inthiscase,nofurtheractionisrequiredandtheCOFisscored“asshot”,withthesubjectpopperscoredasamiss.

8.11.1.3.Thepopperisleftstandingandthecompetitorchallengesthecalibration.Inthiscase,nopersonshalltouchorinterferewiththepopperorthesurroundingarea.IfaMatchOfficialviolatesthisrule,thecompetitormustreshoottheCOF.Ifthecompetitororanyotherpersonviolatesthisrule,thepopperwillbescoredasamissandtherestoftheCOFwillbescored“asshot”.Ifthepopperfallsforanynon-interferencereason(e.g.windaction),beforeitcanbecalibrated,itisrangeequipmentfailureandshallresultinareshoot.

8.11.2.Intheabsenceofanyinterference,orproblemwithatargetmechanism,acalibrationofficershallconductacalibrationtestofthesubjectpopper(whenrequiredunder8.7.1.3above),frominsidetheshootingareaforpistol/birdshottargetor30feetawayforarifleorshotgunslugtarget.Thefollowingwillapply:

8.11.2.1.Ifthefirstshotbythecalibrationofficerhitsonorbelowthecalibrationzoneandthepopperfalls,thepopperisproperlycalibrated,anditwillbescoredasamiss.

8.11.2.2.Ifthefirstshotfiredbythecalibrationofficerhitsthepopperanywhereonitsfrontalsurfaceandthepopperdoesnotfall,thecalibrationtesthasfailedandthecompetitorshallreshoottheCOFoncethepopperhasbeenrecalibrated.

8.11.2.3.Ifthefirstshotfiredbythecalibrationofficerhitsabovethecalibrationzone,andthepopperfallsthecalibrationtesthasfailedandthecompetitorshallreshoottheCOFoncethePopperhasbeenrecalibrated.

8.11.2.4.Ifthefirstshotfiredbythecalibrationofficermissesthepopperaltogether,anothershotmustbefireduntiloneoftheaboveoccurs.

8.11.3.Calibrationchallengesforallpopperswillbedoneusing9mmammoat120±5powerfactor.

8.11.4.Authorizedmetalplates/KDsarenotsubjecttocalibrationorchallenge.

8.12.BB3GTraditionalscoringpenaltiesapplyasfollows:

9.1.1.Footfaults,acompetitorwhofiresshotswhileanypartoftheirbodyistouchingthegroundorwhilesteppingonanobjectbeyondashootingboxorafaultlinewillreceiveoneproceduralpenalty.However,iftheshooterhasgainedasignificantadvantageonanytarget(s)whilefaulting,theymaybeassessedoneproceduralpenaltyforeachshotfiredwhilefaulting.Competitorsmaygainsupportorstabilitythroughcontactwithanobjectwhichisnotattachedtoashootingboxorfaultlineprovidedtheydonotviolatetheabovesection.

9.1.2.Failuretofollowstageprocedures,shootingunderwalls,ornotusingthecorrectpositionsdenotedintheWSB.

9.1.2.1.MintargetengagementpergunlistedinWSBis3unlessotherwiseotherwisenoted.1proceduralisissuedpertargetlessthan3engaged.

9.1.3.Usingafirearmabandonmentbarrel/containerorpickuptable/containertosupportthemselvesatanytime.Thisisasignificantadvantageandisapenaltypershot.Leaningontablesorplacingelbowsorbipodsontablescountsassupport.WSBmaymakeexceptionsasrequired.

9.1.4.Failuretostartintheprescribedstartingposition

9.1.5.Shootingaclaypigeonwithanythingotherthanbirdshotunless

specificallydesignatedinthestagebriefingthatitmaybeengagedwithotherfirearms.Thecompetitorwillalsopaytoreplacetheclaystand.However,seerule10.18regardingengagingaflyingclaywithaslug.

9.1.6.Abandoningasafe,orcompletelyunloadedfirearminasafedirectiononastarttable.

9.1.7.Re-holsteringorattemptingtore-holsterwillresultintwo5secondprocedurals

9.1.7.1.Re-holsteringisnotallowedinBB3G.

9.1.7.2.ROsarediscouragedfromcoachingastonotdistractacompetitorwhilere-holstering.

9.1.7.3.Re-holsteringisdefinedasholsteringafirearmafterthestartoftheCOFperbeepofthestartclockandacompetitormovingtheirpistoltowardstheirholsterwiththemuzzlenearthedownwardverticaltoincludecompletelyholsteringandlettinggoofthepistol.

9.2.Additional30secondsshallbeassessedfor:

9.2.1.HittinganyKDsteeltargetlessthan45yards,withaslug.Ifthetargetisdamagedthecompetitorshallpayreplacementcosts.Hittingnonfallingsteelorpopperswithasluginside45yardsmaybesubjecttorule10.21.

9.2.2.Enteringaforbiddenareatocreateacompetitiveadvantage.

9.2.3.DroppingapistolthatwascompletelyunloadedandvisuallyclearedbytheRObeforedrawingandloadingit.TheROwillstoptheshooter,retrievethepistol,ensureitisclear,andoffertheshooterareshoot.Thepenaltyisappliedtothereshoot.Showingaclearpistolpriortothestartsignalistheresponsibilityoftheshooter,nottheRO.

10.Disqualifications

10.1.ADisqualification(DQ)resultsincompleteDQfromtheevent.Thecompetitorwillnotbeallowedtocontinue.Thecompetitorwillnotbeeligibleforprizes,orentryintootherdivisions.StageDQ’sDONOTAPPLYtoBB3Gmatches.

10.2.Safetyviolationsarenotsubjecttoarbitration.Disqualificationswillapplyfortheviolationscontainedinsection10.

10.3.DisqualificationsareissuedbytheRO,RangeMaster,orMatchDirector.

10.4.NegligentDischarge:AcompetitorwhocausesanegligentdischargeshallbestoppedbyaROassoonaspossible.

10.4.1.Ashotwhichstrikesthegroundlessthan10feetfromthecompetitor,exceptwhenshootingatatargetcloserthan10feettothecompetitor.Theshooterwillbestopped,andtheirpositionmarkedaswellastheimpactpoint.Untilarulingismadenoonewillwalkthestageortheareawheretheviolationoccurred.

10.4.1.1.Exception:Abulletorshotwhichstrikesthegroundwithin10feetofthecompetitorduetoa“squib”shallnotbesubjecttorule10.4.1

10.4.1.2.IftheROdeterminesthatthebulletorshotwouldhavestruckthegroundwithin10feetofthecompetitorhaditnotbeendeflectedorstoppedbyaprop,theprovisionsofrule10.4.1willapply.

10.5.1.Exception:Droppinganunloadedfirearmbeforethe“MakeReady”commandorafterthe“RangeisClear”commandwillnotresultinadisqualification,providedthefirearmisemptyandretrievedONLYbyanEventOfficial.

10.5.2.Exception:AcompletelyunloadedpistolvisuallycheckedbytheROduringthe“MakeReady”fallsoutoftheholsterwhilenavigatingaCOFpriortoanyloadingprocess.See9.2.3

10.6.Failuretogroundfirearmsinadesignatedareaandorcontainer.

10.6.1.Abandoningafirearmanywhereotherthaninadesignatedarea/containerinanunsafeconditionisaDQ.

10.10.6.Failuretosubmittoainspectionofanyandallequipmentusedduringamatchtoverifyrulecompliance

12.2.IfthecompetitordisagreeswiththeCRO’sdecisiontheRangeMasterwillbecalledtomakethefinalrulinginthematter.Safetyviolationswillnotbesubjecttoarbitration.

13.Definitions

13.1.Abandoning--Thecompetitordoesnothavephysicalcontrolofthefirearmandhasphysicallymovedawayfromthefirearmoracquiredanotherfirearmandfiredthesubsequentfirearm.Alsoknownasdump,ground,ditch.

13.2.Coaching--Includes,butisnotlimitedtocallingskippedtargets,misses,adviceonhowtoclearmalfunctions,duringaCOF.ROsmayprovideassistanceinexceptionalcircumstances.(CoachingisallowedatBB3Glocalmatches)

13.3.COLDRANGE--Competitor’sfirearmsshallremainunloadedattheeventsiteexceptunderthedirectsupervisionofaneventofficial.

13.4.Courseoffire(COF)--Timebetweenmakereadyandrangeisclearcommands.

13.5.Detonation--Ignitionoftheprimerofaround,otherthanbytheactionofafiringpin,wherethebulletorshotdoesnotpasscompletelythroughthebarrel(e.g.whenaslideisbeingmanuallyretractedorwhenaroundisdropped).

13.6.Emptyfirearm--onethatiscompletelydevoidofallliveammunition
