berty button gets a team preview

There are big trucks, little trucks and everything in between, but only Berty Button with his beautiful jelly beans.

One day, Berty Button was asked to take a load to Cairns, a way from his home in Perth. He would be gone for two weeks. Who would do his work for him while he was away?

Just then a scruffy truck pulled up beside him at the traffic lights.

‘I bet you’d like jelly beans too,’ said Berty Button. ‘Would I ever!’ replied the scruffy truck, whose name was Quartez.

‘Then you’re just the truck for me,’ said Berty Button.

‘The first thing we need to do is give you your jelly beans and get your engine serviced,’ said Berty Button. ‘Then you can be out on the road because I need to get ready for Cairns.’

‘I’ll be the best truck for you, Berty Button,’ said Quartez. `You’ll see. I won’t let you down.’

While Quartez was getting spruced up, Berty Button had another thought. They were both too big to cart little loads in town. He needed someone else to do that. An advertisement in the paper would do the trick.

A little truck skidded to a halt right in front of Berty Button.

‘I want jelly beans too,’ he said. ‘I can get into small spaces and I bet I can go faster than you.’ ‘Oh, can you now?’ laughed Berty Button. ‘You’re already full of beans so you will be perfect. What’s more, you look so much like me that I’m going to call you Mini Bert!’
