DESCRIPTION

It's inevitable. You'll run out of post ideas. Your blog traffic will plateau. You'll get bored. It's something every blogger faces eventually. We'll get tired of blogging and, oftentimes, we'll quit. We'll rhetorically ask, "what's the point" and throw in the towel. It doesn't have to be this way. In this presentation I share 8 tips for beating the blogging blues. Are you ready to bring back your joy for blogging? TRANSCRIPT

Down on blogging?

Yeah, we’ve all been

there. But what can you

do about it? Are there

any tips which could

renew your passion?

YES!

A reader just like you at the end

of this presentation. (Okay, not really.)

1 Read your old blog posts.

In addition to potentially

giving you new ideas,

reading your old posts

will reconnect you to the

days when you weren’t

down on blogging.

2 Focus on the blogs of

others and leave them

comments.

Freed from the burden of

conjuring topic ideas for

posts, you can relax.

Return to the core of

blogging: Interacting &

engaging with others.

3 Tweak your blog design.

Changing the way your

blog looks could change

the way you’re feeling

about your blog. And if

what you’re feeling is

negative, change can

only be a good thing.

4 Write something off topic

and fun.

Inject some levity into

your blog.

Get back to the root of

why you loved blogging

in the first place. Tell a

story.

Make it off topic. Make it

fun. Laugh!

5 Focus on social media.

If blog posts are too

much for you right now,

try writing 144-character

Tweets.

The different venue

could spark creativity.

6 Go to your blog and

answer any unanswered

comments left to you by

readers.

It doesn’t matter how old

the comment may be.

Interact with those who

have interacted with you.

Go connect with your

readers.

7 Write about how you're

out of ideas.

Write about your writer’s

block. Write about how

you’re down on blogging.

The act of writing

anything could spark

creativity.

8 Write a guest post.

Guest blogging for a new

audience can be fun and

exciting.

Try it. See if it will renew

your passion for your

own blog.
