What are Auxiliaries?

Auxiliaries are used for connecting external effects units and sending foldback (or

headphone) mixes to musicians.

Pre Fade Sends

When the auxiliary signal is taken before the fader it is

known as a pre-fade send.

Post Fade SendsWhen the aux signal is taken after the fader. This

means that aux send level is affected by a change in

the fader's level.

The outputs of an effect unit needs to be brought back

into the desk at some point…

Audient Stereo Inputs (Master Section)

You can then blend your effected signal (wet) with your

unaffected signal (dry).

F/B A & F/B BAllows the input signal to be fed to Foldback A and B

Trim - Control to compensate for different input levels

Mix - Sends input signal to the mix bus

When there are no remaining effects returns on the desk, we bring the output of the effects unit into spare channels on the mixing desk.

..2 x line inputs on a spare channel (stereo left and right).

The line input signal would be returned into the channel path on the desk. Both faders would need to be panned left and right and placed in the mix bus.

Insert Points

Auxes & Inserts

An insert point allows you to 'break' the signal path so that the signal can be sent to an external processing unit.

The processed signal is then brought back into the desk to the exact same point at which it left.
