This Sunday, August 19 is a Sunday of new beginnings. It is Promotion Sunday for our new church year. Many of our younger children will promote to the next grade or age level with new teachers. Several other adult classes will be moving to new classrooms to begin a new year. If you have never been a part of a Sunday morning Bible Study class, I encourage you to begin this Sunday at 9:15. With over 27 Adult Sunday School Classes and over 20 more classes for our Preschool through Student aged children, there
are learning opportunities for everyone. Our Sunday morning Welcome Centers are fully equipped to help all ages find the right classes….stop by this Sunday and allow them to assist you. These are exciting days.
As we celebrate the beginning of a new church year…we also celebrate the beginning of a new school year. This Sunday we are asking all children to bring their school backpacks to church for a Blessing of the Backpacks. Children will be asked to bring their backpacks to the front during worship. During our blessing of the backpacks, we will pray asking for God’s blessings on the coming church year and school year. With backpacks in the front, leaders and teachers of both Sunday School as well as all other educators standing, will commission the year of learning. I hope you will be present.
Following both Worship Services this Sunday morning, we will have a Called Church Business Meeting for the purpose of voting on a new church sign. You will find a copy of this recommendation elsewhere in the Messenger.
Sunday night begins our new semester of Foundations for Life. In this issue of our Messenger, you can read about the many class offerings which begin at 5:00 PM this Sunday night. I hope you will attend.
Finally, next Wednesday night, August 22, will begin a new year of Music and Missions for children, LiftOff for students, Bible Study for adults, and a new Financial Peace Class!
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday for Bible Study and Worship.
