Analysis of the Georgia State Model

• Undergraduate enrollment is diverse with a minority-majority – 40 percent of students are white, and 60 percent are students of color.3

• Predictive analytics software uses data to identify at-risk students and supports the university in matching students with appropriate academic interventions and student support services.

• Additional online and virtual systems are used to efficiently and effectively communicate with students including “Pounce” – an online virtual assistant that assists students through the admissions process.

• Graduates more black students with bachelor’s degrees than any other schools in the U.S. including HBCUs

Why does this matter? As Alexza mentioned, our Coalition seeks to put an equity lens on all things related to our policy priorities. Here is a demographic breakdown - there was a question about proportions this morning. As you can see here, the demographic breakdown of the incarcerated population is not proportionate. Key Points - Black/AA INCREASES in the incarceration number. Latino & Native American are high considering their total proportion.

Presentation Notes
A final piece of why this matters is re-entry. nationwide, 95 percent of those incarcerated will eventually re-enter society. A lot of components matter with re-entry - successful transition, gainful employment, and even more stable communities. So our metric nationwide for successful “re-entry” is recidivism. Here is that status:
