UNIT 6 Reading - Activity Case Study Read through Hanas account of her teaching experience and practice. In what ways does she get her students to practice the various reading skills listed on page 70? Ms Hana Svecova mentions skills such as Scanning and Skimming to be a very important part of her writing classes. She encourages her students to use these strategies to help them worry less and makes them clear that she does not want them to understand every piece of the text. She also helps them to adapt to the way they read according to the text using graded reader that enable students to understand everything without the use of a dictionary.

UNIT 7 Writing - Activity Case Study - Read through Melissas account of her teaching experience and practice. Which of the skills needed for writing which are listed on page 87 does Melissa concentrate on in her writing classes?It is very evident, for what I understand from the text, that Ms. Lamb is more focused on awakening students interest on writing and providing those study skills to make it more effective. She says I have come to the conclusion that confidence building and getting students interested in writing are both crucial, and that before any writing occurs, it is vital to create ideas. (Learning and Teaching English, page 151) Thus, for her, taking notes, keeping records of vocabulary and the analysis of the text are regarded as more important since she wants her students to obtain the necessary tools to be able to analyze and notice other features of the text such as the style, register, word formation or spelling.
