THANKSGIVING
I’m sitting at my desk, and tomorrow is Thanksgiving.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your generous support
of the mission of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday we gather to
worship God. We listen to his Word and then participate in the
one sacrifice of his Cross.
Throughout the week, groups gather to learn and be
strengthened in their faith and share that faith with others. I am
always amazed at how many people come through the doors
each week. I hope that all our parishioners will be involved with
something during the week. If there isn’t something right for
you, maybe you’re the person being called to start it.
I want to thank everyone who made a financial commitment
to the mission of Jesus here at Ascension last month. There are
more of the pink commitment cards in the lobby if you missed
your chance during Mass. I hope you know how much of a
difference your pledge makes. My Godson’s family is hoping to
help start a new school in Eugene, which costs quite a bit of
money. My Godson really wants it to happen so he asked his
parents what he could do to help. They knew they couldn’t write
a check for $1,000 dollars, but the kids decided to give $1 a
week and the parents $14. Over the course of the months that
will add up to $1,000. And the dream of their new school in
Eugene is a little closer to reality.
Thank you for your contributions both big and small that add
up to make the mission of Ascension possible.
God bless and thank you again. Blessed Advent to you all!
In Christ,
Fr. Jaspers

YEAR END CHARITABLE GIVING OPTIONS At the end of the year, many people take time to review their long-
range estate and financial plans. Wills and bequests, life insurance
policies, retirement accounts, and other planning vehicles offer
exceptional opportunities for leaving a lasting legacy to benefit
others. Gifts of cash and appreciated stock as well as distributions
from IRA accounts are several options that have been particularly
popular with our parishioners for year end giving. And if you make
your charitable gift to the parish or Archdiocese by December 31,
you can still receive a tax benefit for 2017. Please feel welcome to
call the Archdiocese of Portland’s Office of Stewardship &
Development with any questions about your year-end giving plans.
They would be pleased to answer your questions, and discuss the
options available with you and your advisors on a complimentary
basis. You can contact them at 503-233- 8312, or email
gift@archdpdx.org.
Finally, all of you, be of one mind, sympathetic, loving toward one another,
compassionate, humble. 1Peter 3:8

Me
Si no encuentras tu lugar,
Si todavía no lo has hecho
hospitalidad.
Padre Jaspers
