California Condor Cool FactsAccording to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, there are only about 400 condors in the world. About 75 of them live in the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas in Arizona and Utah.
• They are the largest land bird in North America, with a wingspan of 9 ½ feet.
• They weigh about 16–22 pounds.
• They eat dead things!
• The skin on the condor’s head and neck works sort of like a mood ring, changing color depending on its emotions.
