Go to “Colleges” Tab

Start with “Colleges I’m Thinking About”

Q: What’s the difference between “Colleges I’m Thinking About” vs. “Colleges I’m Applying To.”

“Colleges I’m Thinking About”: to bookmark schools. “Colleges I’m Applying To”: when you’ve already

applied through the college’s website or Common App

Moving from thinking about to applying to.....

Simply check the box next to the school and

select “Move to Application List”

Colleges that you KNOW you are applying to, select “add to this list” and add them to your list of schools

Research and understand the many different application types. BE AWARE: SOME ARE BINDING AGREEMENTS!

Defining College Application Types

Regular Decision: you apply by a specified date (usually between January and March), after which an application review begins. Usually notified by April

Rolling Admissions: Applications are accepted on an on-going basis and reviewed as they come in. Usually notified within 2-4 weeks of submission

Early Submission TypesEarly Decision: for students who are VERY sure of their 1st choice college and are ready to accept an offer for admission (and financial aid, if applicable). Deadlines between Oct. -Dec.

Binding agreement

You can only apply to 1 school ED

Expected to withdraw all other applications upon acceptance

Other Early Application Submission Types

Early Action/Early Action I: for students who want to apply early (before RD deadline). Non-binding. For students who are sure of their first choice college, but don’t want the restrictions of the ED process

Early Action II: Similar to EA I but with a later deadline. Non-binding

Both options are good for students who know their 1st choice, are applying for competitive majors and/or for scholarship opportunities

Notice the different Symbols...
