Box Tops for Education
The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn
them in to your PE/Health teacher.
Family Reading NightFamily Reading Night is
Thursday, Nov. 16th! Turn off the TV and read for 20
minutes to be entered into a raffle for one $5 Starbucks
gift card per grade! More information and parent
signature slips will be available later this week!
ChorusChorus rehearsals are Monday and
Thursday after school until 4:05 pm in the Band Room.
Jazz BandJazz Band rehearses at Prairie View every Wednesday after school from
4:00-5:15 pm.
Cheer/Dance TeamTryout forms for the Cheer/Dance team are available in the rack outside the Main Office. They are due back to Mrs. Griffin in Room 210
by Thursday, Nov. 30th. Mandatory clinic is Tuesday, Dec. 5th with tryouts Wednesday and
Thursday, Dec. 6th and 7th.
Respond Now Winter Clothing Drive
Student Council is sponsoring a Winter Clothing Drive through
Friday, Nov. 17th. New and ”gently used” coats, mittens, gloves, hats and scarves are being collected in the boxes
outside of the Commons.
Crayola ColorCycleStudents and teachers will soon be collecting used
markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook
meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic
out of landfills each year! Remember, don’t throw out that used marker – ColorCycle it!
Internet SafetyPlease remind your parents to attend the Internet Safety presentation that will be held on Tuesday,
Nov. 28th at 7:00 pm here at Grissom. Det. Bonerakfrom the Tinley Park Police Department will be the
presenter. (This meeting is for parents only!)
MathletesThere will be a brief informational meeting for anyone interested in
joining Mathletes this year. You may come to Mrs. LaPlant’s room (#222)
right after school today, or tomorrow morning, at 8:20 am. The
meeting will be about 15 minutes long. Practices will begin after
Thanksgiving.
Girls Basketball
Good luck to the Lady Patriots tomorrow in their home games against Oak Lawn. Game time is
4:30 pm. Come out and show your support for the team!

The Student Council Executive Board will meet Tuesday after school until 4:00 in
Room 118.

tomorrow in an away game! Game time is 4:30 pm.

must have your Grissom ID with you! You will not be admitted without it!

IntramuralsThis is the last week for volleyball and
basketball intramurals! Volleyball intramurals are held on Tuesdays, and Basketballintramurals are held on Thursdays. All
intramurals are held from 7:45-8:25 am.
Student SupportBefore and after school
Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each
morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday.
You must arrive at the beginning of the session and
stay for the whole time!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge
Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles
from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please
remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we’ve saved 3,696 bottles from
landfills! Let’s beat last year’s total!
