The first Anime was made in 1917! However it did not become popular until the 1960’s

Origins of anime

Chikara to Onna no Yo no Naka was the first ever anime produced!

The first ever written manga was created by Osamu Tezuka! While primitive versions of manga existed before, they were completely different and so are not considered to be actual manga.

MangaTreasure Island was converted into a manga, called “New Treasure Island”

Kodomo: is one kind, it is aimed for younger children. These can be compared to children’s books with similar purposes as Dr. Seuss.Shounen: is for boys generally from 10-17! (Did you know girls tend to prefer the shounen genre!)Shojo: is intended for girls between 10-17 (Boys tend to prefer reading shojo!)Seinen: is for young men, 17-25. Anything is a possibility in seinen.Josei: is for young women, 17-25. Josei tend to focus on themes about maturity.Harem: is typically a romance with 1 guy and several female candidates! Reverse Harem is the same thing except 1 girl and several male candidates! (sometimes a girl is included >///<)

The Different Kinds of Anime and Manga

Ecchi is filled with sexual content, but does not go beyond teasing images! (Panties, breasts, etc)

But worst of all is HENTAI! It is just anime porn! Anything goes! There doesn’t even need to be a plot!

How Anime Affects People

Wow! Who knew that anime and manga could be more than just pure entertainment!
