• Photographed the effects of the war in Ethiopia.

Eisenstaedt made this photograph from the top of the Zeppelin

as it made it’s journey to Rio de Janerio. He was only allowed,

by German officials, to make three photographs.

Drum Major. October 30, 1950

Eisenstaedt- “I do not photograph blood or war or the homeless stretched out on the subway steps.” For Eisenstaedt joy was as worthy a record as sorrow.

Puppet Show. Paris August 12,1963

A difficult assignment for Eisenstaedt. Paris had been photographed so many times by others. He had to do it his way. He shot two roll on the puppet show alone.

Waiters, St. Moritz. 1932

Portrait of Thomas Hart Benton. May 21, 1971

Eisenstaedt photographed Benton almost ever year starting in 1937. Benton was a famous painter who painted murals for the legislature in Kansas City.

Portrait of Erine Pyle

Pyle was a newspaper reporter who served on the front lines during WWII.

After the session Pyle wrote in Eisenstaedt’s autograph book. “I haven’t seen the pictures yet but if they’re as understanding as your presence while taking them, then they will be pleased.
