bio

i was raised by the hands of a banker and a beautician in the realm of rhythmic, Floridian orange groves. learning first to hold a paintbrush and second to sign my name, primordial attempts at expression include blue swirls found in my grandmother’s birthday card. a long lineage of golden retrievers and station wagons ensured consistency that would have otherwise been lost through inevitable changes in location.

there is nothing more comforting than the heavy aroma of perm rods or the soft crackle of a campfire.

through design, i am in constant pursuit of the native definition of a place- in coordinates that are static coupled with a cultural identity constantly in flux. my architectural expression seeks to extinguish pre-concieved notions of the constraints of origin. design as the ability to suspend these notions like no other medium.

this is where i find myself. somewhere between poetry, regulating lines and rhythmic orange groves.

intentlocated in downtown knoxville, this office space for a sustainable design firm seeks to communicate to the urban landscape. the open workshop quality of the overlapping spaces will ignite discussions on sustainable practices. this heavy timber project was designed under the guidelines of LEED and C.O.T.E.

the kaartin maneesi building has served many purposes since it’s construction in the late ninteenth century. situated near the design district of helsinki, observatory park and the harbor, the imprint of this relic of time will become an exhibit hall and make shop for the community that is helsinki.

intentthe town of manchester was in need a cultural center. upon researching the traditions of the appalachian region, we decided to reinterrpret the cultural center into a center for the art of quilt making. the design is heavily inspired by the textile craft and the process of the quilt maker.

intenttownsend, tn sits on the edge of the great smoky mountain national park. the nature of the studio allowed us to program a site within the town. for a place without a native identity, a brewery would bring, not only a unique destination, but also a name for townsend. each bottle of beer or cider would carry the branding of this little town.
