DEFINITION OF TERMSHospital: An health care institutions that have an organized medical and other professional staff, and in-patient, facilities, and deliver medical, nursing and related services.

Organization: A group of people who work together, like a neighborhood association, a charity, a union, or a corporation to meet a need or to pursue collective goals.

DEFINITION OF TERMSStructure: The aggregate of an element of an entity in their relationships to each other.

Subsystem: Group of interconnected and interactive part that performs an important job or task as a component of a larger system.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF AN HOSPITAL

A typical hierarchical arrangement of line of authorities, communications, rights and duties of an hospital

It can also be considered as the viewing glass or perspective through which individuals see their hospital and its environment.

An organizational chart illustrates the organizational structure.

IMPORTANCE

It determines how the roles, power and responsibilities are assigned, controlled and coordinated in an hospital.

It determines how information flows between the different levels of management in an hospital.

The structure helps one understand the hospital’s chain of command. It shows which individual or department is accountable for each area of the hospital.

  It provides the foundation on which

standard operating procedures and routines rest.

It allow efficient management of hospital departments.
