Do Now: Write how you connect to today’s quote in your notebooks.

Quote of the Day: “Analysis is like going to the gym for your brain. It sharpens your mind.”

-Danica McKellar

Agenda: May 6th , 2014Objective: I can challenge myself to become proficient in the analytical skills required to investigate car accident by the end of the unit. Choices-{Let’s Talk}: PBATs{Let’s Push Your Thinking}: Conservation of

momentum{Let’s Learn}: Work Energy Theorem Express Yourself}

{Let’s Talk} PBATs

7 tasks required:1. Pre and Post Understanding Check2. CSI Training Packet3. CSI Exhibition Packet4. Elastic Collision Lab5. Inelastic Collision Lab6. Paper7. Visual

Work Energy TheoremThe work energy theorem states: “The work done on an object by a net force equals the change in kinetic energy of the object”We know that after the collision the cars stop moving so their velocity goes to zero. So the change in KE only ends up with one term, like how I used it here.

W = KEf - KEi.2

Scenario #1

Find total mass for each carFind stopping distance from image

Velocity Before a Car Crash (case 1:inellastic collision) if one car is moving and the other is at rest

The velocity of the Ford Focus before the car crash is m/s[E]

Scenario #2

Velocity Before a Car Crash (case 1:inellastic collision)

The velocity of the Ford Focus before the car crash is m/s[E]

Scenario #3

Velocity Before a Car Crash (case 1:inellastic collision)

The velocity of the Ford Focus before the car crash is m/s[E]

Express Yourself

Connect: How are the ideas from computer physics related to concepts that you already know?

Extend: What new ideas from the lessons on car collisions did you get that extended/shifted your thinking?

Challenge: What challenges or questions have come up in your mind after conducting today’s assignment?
