Afternoon Seminar: Knowledge update – How to welcome and retain international employees

Objective: Through the morning seminars our objective is to build a strong knowledge network of companies, educational institutions and public authorities, who join forces in the effort to make Aarhus an attractive area for international labour. International Community is an extra resource to the Aarhus area in that respect. Based on the morning seminars, we wish to work with the challenges you identify for Aarhus and create concrete solutions, which strenghten the international profile of Aarhus.

This seminar will focus on the past, present and future based on the topics touched upon at the previous morning seminars. The afternoon seminar will provide you with the latest update on how to welcome and retain international labour. What activities have the companies been working with successfully? What future best practices have been implemented? Which focus areas call for further action?

Four "speed presentations" will be the frame of this seminar with a focus on sharing knowledge and networking.

ProgrAm16:15 fgt (flintholm global telemarketing) – international environment The importance of welcoming international employees – improving the working environment for international employees in Danish companies.FgT is a telemarketing company with Danish, French, Swedish, german, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, Polish - and Chinese speaking employees. The company has successfully incorporated an international environment. Director michael Flintholm will unveil how – What are the steps for creating a good international work environment and how does FgT work with this challenge on a daily basis?

16:45 veStAS – Spouse ServicesSpouses are key to the retention of international employees – How do companies implement successful spouse services? During the past year, Vestas has been working intensively with new services aimed at spouses. mobility Specialist, Trine Larsen will tell us about the procedures they have followed – what has been achieved and how? And what challenges are ahead?

17:30 SieMenS – Language and culture programsCreating the best services through cooperation. Siemens has in the past year focused on working with both official authorities and local partners to improve their expat services. Junior Delegation Consultant, Catrine rumohr from Siemens and Consultant, martin Wind from LærDansk Herning will tell us about the successes they have had with the cooperation on language and culture programs.

18:00 Aarhus Municipality – city brandingBranding Aarhus as an attractive region for international employees and accompanying families. Aarhus municipality has been working with branding specialists from the UK to create a new branding platform for Aarhus City and Business region Aarhus. Webmaster Line gerstrand Knive from Aarhus municipality will provide a status on the branding process and present how Aarhus can use the brand in the future. manager Søren Boel Pedersen will present the municipality’s future actions for attracting global talent.
