(AdverbS)

An adverb is a word that describes a verb, adjective or adverb.

Many adverbs are formed by adding ‘-ly’ to an adjective, for example, ‘quickly’.

For adjectives that end in -l or -e, add -ly:

polite C politely

For adjectives that end in -y, remove the -y and add -ily:

happy C happ C happily For adjectives that end in a consonant + le remove the -e and add -y:

horrible C horribl C horribly If the adjective ends in -ic, add -ally:

energetic C energetically Irregular adverbs:

good C well early C early

fast C fast hard C hard late C late
