Council for Life Presents $100,000 to GladneyCenter for Adoption and Buckner International

General Richard B. Myers, Retired 15thChairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff underGeorge W. Bush, was in Dallas recently toserve as a guest speaker atAmerican Airlines2013 Sky Ball, but he also came to town tocut the ribbon on the expansion of MediSendInternational that includes the home for theGeneral Richard B. Myers Veterans TrainingProgram. Honored guests included twoMedal of Honor recipients, military veteransand dignitaries, MediSend board members,sponsors and donors.

Tony Orlando, a good pal of GeneralMyers also in town for Sky Ball, was on hand

to help cut the "yellow ribbon".The group toured new classrooms and

training laboratories and visited withMediSend instructors and the veterantrainees. The expansion, designed by Perkins+ Will Architects and built by RogersO’Brien Construction, more than doublesthe size of MediSend’s educational facilities.

MediSend, a non-profit humanitarianorganization has been shipping medical sup-plies and equipment to developing countryhospitals and clinics since it was founded1990 by renowned neurosurgeon MartyLazaar.

Council for Life presented Gladney Centerfor Adoption and Buckner International with acombined contribution of $100,000. The twoDallas-area non-profits were the beneficiaries ofCouncil for Life’s 5K Run for Life on April 6.Amanda Sisk and Cathy Sisk were the co-chairsfor the race.

“We feel blessed to be able to put on such agreat event to benefit life-affirming organizationssuch as Gladney and Buckner,” said AmandaSisk, co-chair for the 2013 5K. “We hope to con-tinue the success of the run in 2014 with the helpand support of our members and the Dallas com-munity.”
