Blog search engine Technorati was tracking over 70 million blogs in 2007 and about 120,000 new weblogs are being created worldwide each day. That's about 1.4 blogs created every second of every day.

◆ In the 20th century, the news was produced professionally.  When news happened, reporters wrote the stories and a tiny group of people decided what appeared in a newspaper or broadcast. Professional news was general and limited.◆ However, the 21st century marked the point where news became both professional and personal. Blog came onto the scene that let anyone be a reporter and publisher.

Mainstream popularity

◆ The role of blogs became increasingly mainstream, as political consultants, news services.

◆ Blogging was established by politicians and political candidates to express opinions on war and other issues.

Different Types of Blogs

Personal blog, an ongoing diary or commentary by individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Corporate blog, can be for business purpose. Blogs used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation and externally for marketing or public relation purpose. Some blogs focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, education blogs,etcThe blogosphere, is made up of all blogs and their interconnections. Blogs exist together as a connected community
