The illustrations for this book were done in markers, chalk pastels, and

watercolor pencils on 110-weight GP card stock.

When Damien and I go to

the creek, we have a

marvelous time.

We race soda cans

across the creek.

We pretend the cans are

boats floating along the

creek water. I always

pick the blue cans and

Damien picks the red

ones.

We race soda cans

We also practice skipping

rocks. Both Damien and I

choose the flat rocks

because they are good

rocks for skipping.

We pretend the rocks are

airplanes when they are

in the air that crash into

the water and surface

again.

We race soda cans

across the creek.

One time Damien

skipped a rock then

times.

One time Damien skipped a

rock ten times.

One fun summer’s day,

we found a broken guitar

at the creek.

We race soda cans

across the creek.

It looked fun to play,

but had no strings.

I told Damien that I wished

the strings were still there, so I

could play it like a rock star.

I like going to the creek

with Damien. I would go

to the creek with him

every day if I could.

A Friend Fun Frenzy was written by Mark Rittman, Jr. (MJ)

for his 3rd grade language arts class. To encourage him to

write more fun stories, his mother, Danielle Rittman, drafted

illustrations for his book and had the completed work

published. This was Danielle’s first time tackling such a task,

and the finished product really brings MJ’s wonderful story to

life.
