ASSEMBLY Insertthetwo1/4-20x3/4"flatheadscrews(MF010)thruthelargercountersunkholesintheSOSSHingeJig(8665B).Starta1/4-20ovalnut(5760B - flat side first) ontheendofeachscrew.Slidethe12"DoubleTrack(4012)ontotheovalnutsandinthegrooveintheundersideoftheHingeJiguntilcenteredend-to-end,thentightenthescrews. Insertthetwo10-24x5/16"flatheadscrews(MF001)thrutheremainingtwocountersunkholesintheHingeJigandstarta10-24ovalnut(5750B - raised side first) ontheendofeachscrew.

Slidea2-7/8"OneTrack(8660T)ontoeachovalnutandintothegroovesintheundersideoftheHingeJiguntilcoveringtheovalnut,thentighteneachscrew.

BEFORE BEGINNING Identifyandverifythatyouhaveallthepartslisted.Readthrutheinstructionsatleastonce,familiarizingyourselfwiththepartsandtheirusebeforeproceeding.You'llneeda#2&#3Phillipsscrewdriverforassembly.

The8665 SOSS Hinge Jigisdesignedtoworkwitha3/4"bushing&locknut(our PN 5032K)anda1/2"upcutspiralbit(our PN 15410).Ifyouhaveyourown3/4"bushing,makesurethenoseisn'tover3/8"long.You'llneedaplungeroutertocutthehingemortises.Thequalityoftheplungemechanismcaneffectthesizeofthemortise,resultinginapoorfitiftheplungemechanismhasexcessiveslop.

USAGE TheSOSSHingeJighasthecorrectsetbackbuilt-intoitforyourSOSShinge.AlwaysindexthefaceoftheworkagainsttheDoubleTrackandanedgeoftheworkagainsttheundersideoftheHingeJig.ThecenteroftheHingeJigis3-7/8"fromeachend.Usethismeasurementtowherethehingemortisewillbecut.Clampthework/DoubleTracktogetherinavise, orclamptheworkinaviseandusebarclampstoclamptheDoubleTrack/SOSSHingeJigtothework.

Afterinstallingthebushingandbitinyourplungerouter,setthebushingintheopeningintheHingeJig.Plungethebitdownuntilitjusttouchestheedgeoftheworkandlockitinplace.

CUT THE LONG/SHALLOW MORTISE FIRST PlacethemountingflangeoftheSOSShingebetweentheturretandthestoprodtosettheplungedepthforthelong/shallowmortiseoftheSOSShingemountingflange.

SlidetheOneTracksoutuntiltheyarenolongervisibleintheHingeJigopening,tightenthescrewsandcutthelong/shallowmortiseusingaclockwisecuttingpath..

ThedebrisgeneratedduringcuttingwillinterferewiththebushingtravelintheHingeJig.Cleanoutthedebrisbetweenpasses,makingasmanypassesasneeded,untilthecutiscomplete.

CUT THE SHORT/DEEP MORTISE LAST

PlacethemainbodyoftheSOSShingebetweentheturretandthestoprod,thenadjustthestoprodsoit'sapproximately1/32"abovethemainbodytosettheplungedepthfortheshort/deepmortise.

LoosenthetwoOneTracksandpushthemintotheHingeJigopeninguntiltheybottomoutandarevisible.Tightenthescrewsandcuttheshort/deepmortisein1/4"deepincrementalclockwisepassesuntilyoureachthefulldepthofcut.

ThedebrisgeneratedduringcuttingwillinterferewiththebushingtravelintheHingeJig.Cleanoutthedebrisbetweenpasses,makingasmanypassesasneeded,untilthecutiscomplete.

WerecommendedtwoFlipStops,oneforeachsideofthejig/endofthework.OptionallongerDouble Tracks(up to 96")canalsobeusedtomountmultiplejigs&stops.

OptionalSelf-Centeringdrill(6509 - 9/64", 6511 - 11/64" or 6513 - 13/64")centersitselfinthehingescrewmountingholeforaperfectlycenteredpilothole.
