Poultry BBQ Workshop/Contest
Do you like outdoor fun? This event is for you! B-Day is
made up of activities in Bait Casting, BB/Gun Safety, and
Bicycling. These events are part of the annual County
O’Rama. 4-H’ers, ages 5 and up, may compete in any or
all of the categories. For Bait Casting, BB, and Bicycling,
participants complete a written test based on their
knowledge of the subject. The written test is followed
by hands-on competition. Ribbons are awarded in each
category. Winners, age 9 and up, have an opportunity
to go to District O’Rama in their winning event. After
District O’Rama, senior age members also have an op-
portunity to go to State O’Rama, held at the U of A in
Fayetteville! This year’s B-Day is May 7, 3:30 pm at the
Ronnie Woods Nature Trail Pavilion, Nashville City Park.

On April 12 we held the poultry BBQ workshop/contest
at the EH Center. There was a total of 16 4-H members
that participated. A great time was had by all! Everyone
learned how to cook on a grill and check the tempera-
ture of their chicken quarters. Everyone did such a great
job seasoning and grilling their chicken. Congratulations
to all of the winners and
good luck to those going to
district in Arkadelphia in
May.
Howard County 4-H recently held the annual Dairy and Egg
Contest. This contest is sponsored by the Howard County Farm
Bureau Women’s Committee and the Howard County Extension
Homemakers. Participants prepared main dishes or party ideas
using dairy products or eggs as main ingredients. Winners in-
clude Guy Cooper Kroll, Lily Trombley, Connor Bagley, Sarah
Lamb, Emmie Trombley, Abbie Lamb, Payeton Bagley, Jake
Hicks, Anna Kate McKinnon, Kat Chambers, Christian Trombley, Wyatt Hanney, Alex Trombley, Anthony Trombley, Lex-
ie Markham and Nick Trombley. Anna Kate McKinnon and Sarah Lamb won overall. Congratulations to all the winners!
Dairy and Egg Contest
County O’Rama B-Day
Laundry Bag - Sewing Workshop Laundry bags are a must for summer camps. A workshop
to make your own laundry bag is scheduled for Thurs-
day, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the EH Center in Nashville.
Participants will need to bring one yard fabric (100%
cotton), matching all purpose thread, fabric cutting scis-
sors, pins, tape measure, and seam ripper. If you have a
sewing machine, please bring it along with the manual.
A registration fee of $3.00 will be charged to cover the
remaining supplies. Please call the Extension Office at

participating in
this workshop.

Important Dates!
Leather Working Workshop Summer Time!! On June 5 from 9am-2pm at the EH Cen-
ter, we will have a Leather Working Workshop. Registra-
tion fee will be $10 and is limited to 20 4-Hers. This is for
Cloverbuds and up. Participants will need to bring a sack
lunch with them. We will be learning how to do leather
art and stamping. Any Teen Leader that would like to
help, please let Mrs. Sa-
mantha or Mrs. Jennifer
know. Please call the office

May 23.
Who is ready for summer??!?!
Star Camp is July 16-18 at Timber Lodge Ranch in Ami-
ty, AR. Four other surrounding counties will be joining
us. Many activities, swimming and time spent with oth-
er 4Her's are planned!
Registration fee of $75 is due by noon on June 14. A reg-
istration form is inserted in this newsletter. If you need

Camping season is coming up and what better way to
kick it off than with learning how to cook with a Dutch
Oven! Mr. Mike Ince and Mrs. Jean will be teaching a
workshop on how to make main dishes and desserts
using a Dutch oven. The class is limited to 12 members
ages 9 and up. It will be held at Mrs. Jean’s house on
May 24 from 9am-1pm; A $10 registration fee will be
charged to cover the cost of supplies. Whatever the
members cook, they’ll get to eat. Yum!! Please call the
