are capable of reliably switching high
stress fault currents. Increased dielectric
strength of the SecoVac circuit breaker
is achieved through encapsulation of
the vacuum interrupter in epoxy resin
material. SecoVac circuit breaker family
utilizes this solid insulation technology
that has been catering to a wide scope of
applications for years.
SecoVac circuit breakers are designed
and fully third-party KEMA type tested to
the latest IEC 62271-100 and IEC 62271-
1 standards. All SecoVac circuit breakers
meet or exceed the electrical and
mechanical endurance requirements of
E2 and M2 in accordance with IEC 62271-
100.
SecoVac circuit breakers can be used in a
wide scope of applications such as the

The high quality of the embedded pole is achieved by using the latest APG (Auto Pressure
Gelation) technology and advanced vacuum mixing and degassing technology. The
Vogel clamping machine is an essential piece of equipment to ensure the mechanical
and insulating strength of the embedded pole of 3.3kV-27kV series MV embedded pole
vacuum circuit breaker.
As well as the processing facilities, the testing facilities are also very important to the
quality control of the breaker. In the manufacturing process of SecoVac, from incoming

Designed for optimum contact area,
it is manufactured from silver-plated
copper and tested for continuous and

Interlock system
For personnel safety, SecoVac 3.3kV-27kV
is designed with a number of mechanical
and electrical interlocks. For example,
breaker contacts must be open before
the breaker can be moved from test to
service position. A positive mechanical
stop is provided when the breaker
reaches the service or test/disconnect
positions. Mechanical rejection interlocks
are provided to permit only the insertion
��������������������������������
compartments.
These and other necessary interlocks
provide a comprehensive safety system.
Furthermore, springs automatically
discharge when the breaker is withdrawn
from the service position and breakers

Working Principle
Working Principle of Operating Mechanism
The vacuum gas pressure inside vacuum interrupter is less than
1.33×10-3Pa. Under normal circuit conditions the interrupter is
closed. Arcing is established within the interrupter by withdrawing
the moving contact from stationary contact. This arc burns in
the metal vapor evaporated from local hot spots on the contact
surfaces. The metal vapor continually leaves the inter-contact
region and recondenses on the contact surfaces and surrounding
metal vapor condensation shield. The latter is usually isolated
from both contacts and serves to protect the glass or ceramic
envelope from vapor deposition. At current zero, vapor production
ceases and the original vacuum condition is rapidly approached.
The dielectric strength of the interrupter also increases, and the
circuit is interrupted. Within the contacts in the open position, the
circuit voltage is withstood internally by the inter-contact gap
and externally by the insulating envelope.
The energy that is necessary for closing the circuit breaker is
provided by the closing spring. The energy storage can be done
by the motor or by the manual charging handle.
Motor spring charging
The energy charging mechanism consists of energy storing
motor, gear wheel, cam, holder and closing spring. When the
energy-storing motor (11) is charged, the pinion of output shaft
(12) that is connected to motor will rotateand drive the gear

on the shaft move, which then drive the shaft to rotate, so that
draws out the closing spring (17) for storing energy. When the
block on the gear wheel is pushed away, the clutch is separated

When energy is charged manually, the operator charges
the spring by operating the energy-charging handle on the
mechanism up and down repeatedly.
When the charging operation is completed, you can hear a 'click',
and the energy charging indicator (13) is switched over, as well as
the status of position switch (6), cutting the secondary charging
circuit supply to motor. The operating mechanism now is ready
for the next operation. (Figure 3)
When the closing circuit is powered, the closing coil is energized
and the holder (4) will rotate counter clockwise to break away

The follow interlocking facilities are
incorporated to ensure the safe operation
of the breaker. when the breaker is closed,
the withdrawable circuit breaker cannot
be racked between the service position
and test position.
When the earthing switch is in the
closed position, the withdrawable
circuit breaker cannot be racked into
the service position
When the withdrawable circuit breaker
is in service position, the earthing
switch cannot be closed
Correct installation is of primary
importance, the manufacturer’s
instructions must be carefully studied
and followed. It is good practice to use
gloves for handling the breaker during the
installation.
Please carry out installation and wiring
of breaker according to manual. Do not
place any foreign objects in the breaker or
modify it in anyway.
Check before installation
After the breaker is unpacked, check
the poles for any signs of mechanical
damage. The product nameplate and

Clean the insulating parts with a clean
dry cloth. Make sure the upper and lower
contact arms are clean and free of any
deformation caused by mishandling
during transport or storage.
