Anotherwaytobepreparedforthetransitioninto3rdgradeistomaintainskillslearnedin2nd

grade.StudentsaretopracticeskillswithinIXLandRaz-Kidsonlinelearningprogramsforaminimum

of600minutes.(200minutesinIXLMath,200minutesinIXLLanguageArts,and200minutesinRaz-

Kids)Classcreditwillbeassignedforcompletion.Thisisagreatopportunitytogetaheadstartfora

successfulyear.

Pleasepracticeandmemorizeyouradditionandsubtractionfacts(0-18).Ourgoalistocomplete100

problemsin4minutes.Useflashcardstopracticeyourfactseachdayfor10minutes.Wewillbe

takingtimedtestinthefirstweekofschool.Wealsoencourageallstudentstokeepawritingjournal

overthesummer,notonlywillthishelpyoumaintainandpracticeyourhandwriting,butitwillalso

helpyoukeepyourwritingskillsfreshasweheadintoFall.Youmaybringyourjournalintosharethe

firstweekofschool.

SummerworkatSt.Raymondisanimportantcomponentoftheacademicprogram.Thepurposeofsummerworkisto:1)Providespecificinstructionalpracticeonthoseessentialstandardsforentryintothenextgradelevel,and2)Providestructuredpracticeofessentialskills.Studentsaretopracticetheskills(asdetailedbelow)aminimumof600minutes(200minutesIXLMath,200minutesIXLLanguageArtsand200minutesRaz-Kids).Thisencourages20minutesofpracticeforeachcontentareaweekly.Studentsmaycompleteminutesinthemannerthatbestsupportsfamilytravelandsummerplans(i.e.moreminutessomeweeksandfewerminutesotherweeks).Studentshaveunlimitedaccesstogradelevelcurriculumandaretocontinuetopracticethroughoutthesummerevenifmasteryoftheassignedstandard(100%)isaccomplished.Teacherswillviewthetimespentpracticing,problemspracticed,thenumberofskillsattempted/mastereduponreturntoschool.Classcreditwillbeassignedforcompletion.Pleasenote:
