Dear Parents,
2019 PREP INFORMATION EVENING On Tuesday evening the school conducted an information evening for 2019 Prep student parents. It was lovely to meet so many new families and to catch up with some of our current families too. Thank you to our School Council President, Tim Day and to our Parent Club President, Lisa Strong, for providing insightful presentations to the parents on the role of School Council and the various activities of the Parents Club. YEAR 1 STUDENTS VISIT THE ZOO On Tuesday, the Year One students and teachers visited the Melbourne Zoo. They attended Zoo School where they learnt about the corn snake. They even got to pat it! Children were Wild Explorers for the day, looking at lifecycles, animal teeth, turtle shells and animal eggs.
There were so many exciting things to see during the day. One highlight was the monkey enclosure, as the monkeys came to show off to the class and jumped on the glass to look at students. Butterflies landed on some of the students’ hats in the butterfly enclosure. The students had a fantastic day! Thank you to the staff for organising the zoo event and to the parent helpers who attended the excursion.
WALKATHON- It’s a WOW! Our annual Walkathon was a great success again with our students raising the grand total of $4646.10. The money will go toward the payment of new play equipment- a low ropes course. Congratulations to our winning junior grade- Prep A, for raising $463.60 and to the winning senior grade -3L, for raising $398.10. Both of these classes have won a ‘pizza party’ for their great fundraising efforts. Congratulations again to all students for your fabulous efforts in raising money to go towards your play equipment.
Principal’s Message
PARENT HELPER MORNING TEA No school can function successfully without the support and enthusiasm of its parent community. In order to say, “Thank You” for everything that parents have done and in recognition of the support that’s been given to classes and the students of Pinewood PS during the 2018 school year, parent helpers are cordially invited to a special Parent Helpers’ Morning Tea. A special invitation from the school was sent home this week. Date: Tuesday 4th December Venue: Staffroom Time: 11:00 - 11:30 am
APPOINTING NEW STAFF The school leadership team and staff have been involved in appointing several new staff over the past few weeks to replace staff who are taking leave for 2019. I will be putting out the class teaching positions in the final newsletter of the term. Children will find out their teacher for 2019 in the last week of this term. Reports will be sent home on 20th December. Please notify the school office if your child will not be at school during the last week of term and will need to have their school report mailed home. We are unable to produce student reports before this scheduled time. ELECTION DAY BBQ Thank you to the Parents Club for organising a BBQ on Election Day ( 24th Nov.) and to the many parent helpers who gave up their time to assist with the cooking and selling of sausages on the day.

This weeks theme at OSHClub is all things summer!! This includes activities such as learning what it means to be sun smart, and creating our own beach paintings and summer hats. In the kitchen we are also making rice paper rolls to enjoy on those hot summer days. With only three weeks left until the end of the year we would just like to remind you that our January holiday program is now open to make bookings and is running from Monday 7th January- Friday 25th January 2019. We have an exciting and busy next few weeks ahead as we begin wrapping up for 2018.
