WILDCAT WEDNESDAYEach Wednesday Vice President for Athletics Dave Heeke gives subscribers an insider’s view with his weekly e-mail. Get the inside scoop on Arizona Athletics, Pac-12 Conference and what’s trending in the world of college athletics. There is no charge to receive the e-mail. With one year under my belt, I am as excited as ever to be a part of the Arizona Athletics family and serve as the Vice President for Athletics. Everything I have witnessed over the past year—from our student-athletes, our coaches and most importantly our fans has confirmed for me that we are indeed one of the greatest programs in America. As we look ahead, our mission continues to be achieving excellence both academically and athletically.
Academically, our student-athletes recently posted a cumulative 3.0 GPA for the first time in school history. Similarly, this spring we celebrated 95 graduating student-athletes, including four returning letterwinners through our C.A.T.S. Forever Program. We want to maintain this trajectory of academic excellence.
Athletically, we want to contend for Pac-12 and National Championships. This past season we won four Pac-12 Championship titles, in Men’s Basketball and Men’s Track & Field. In addition, our Women’s Golf team won the National Championship! We want this success to continue, while providing the support and resources needed for all of our programs to compete for championships.
As you know, providing a world-class experience for our student-athletes and the tools for success takes resources. None of this is possible without the wonderful support of our Wildcat Club members and fans. From cheering us on at events, to contributing to provide these necessary resources, you make the difference.
Arizona is a special place. As we enter a “New Era” of Arizona Athletics, I hope you will join me by contributing to the Wildcat Club and purchasing season tickets.
Thank you for all you do, and Bear Down!

ROCKY LAROSE LEGACY LANE The University of Arizona Athletics Department is offering a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for alumni, Wildcat fans, and
supporters to become part of Arizona Athletics history. The Rocky
LaRose Legacy Lane is part of the Eddie Lynch Pavilion and the
historic walkway that leads to the Jim Click Hall of Champions,
which honors the greatest moments, teams and letterwinners in
Arizona Athletics history.
By purchasing a personalized tile, you will become a lasting
part of UA tradition. Your tax-deductible donation will also
help support nearly 500 student- athletes through the Wildcat
Scholarship Fund.
For more information on how you can purchase a Legacy Lane
tile, please visit ArizonaWildcats.com/legacylane.
Arizona Athletics is funded primarily though self-
generated revenues. The department receives no
state appropriations, but does receive 315 tuition
waivers annually, authorized by the Arizona Board
of Regents. Tuition waivers are provided to all three
state institutions. Revenue to meet the rest of the
department’s budgetary obligations comes from a
variety of sources including:
• Charitable gifts
• Ticket sales
• Corporate sponsorships
• Television revenues
ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT FUNDING
The A-Club Letterwinners Association is a FREE
organization open to individuals who have lettered
and/or participated in an intercollegiate sport at
the University of Arizona. The A-Club is designed
to engage former student-athletes and encourage
them to return to campus to stay connected with the
University, coaches and former teammates. The A-Club promotes the history
and tradition of Arizona Athletics. Only 2% of all UA alumni had the privilege
and honor of wearing the cardinal red and navy blue. If you are an alumni
letterwinner or participated in an intercollegiate sport, we encourage you to
get involved with the A-Club and activate your FREE membership by visiting
azaclub.com.
Certain areas of Arizona Stadium, McKale Center, Hillenbrand Stadium, and Hi Corbett Field carry a
per-seat contribution over and above the ticket cost called “priority.” All season ticket holders whose
priority amount totals $100 or more automatically qualify for membership in the Wildcat Club. Priority
seating contributions are included in each donor’s annual benefits level*.
Due to recently passed tax law, effective January 1, 2018, no portion of a priority payment is considered
to be a charitable contribution and will no longer be 80 percent tax deductible. Despite this change, Arizona Athletics remains thankful for your support and contribution through priority payments. Tax law may have changed, but your impact on Arizona student-athletes has not.
As we continue to work through the impact this change will have on our department and our loyal fans
and supporters, we appreciate your patience.
WILDCAT CLUB PRIORITY SEATING
*ICA Capital Campaign donations made with the understanding of the right to purchase basketball tickets are not tax deductible.
*Please note, for the 2018-19 year, contributions made through priority seating will continue to count toward your Wildcat Club Annual Benefits Level, despite no longer being considered a tax-deductible gift. This is subject to change for subsequent years. Please consult your tax advisor if you have questions about your contributions to Arizona Athletics.
The Wildcat Club is a collective group of individuals who provide
financial support for nearly 500 University of Arizona student-
athletes. The support from these donors allows Arizona Athletics to
compete with the best in the nation by providing:
• Programs that allow student-athletes to succeed on and off their
respective playing surfaces
• Financial support for scholarships
• State-of-the-art facilities
• Equipment and travel
There are many ways Wildcat fans can become official supporters of
Arizona Athletics. With a contribution of $100 or more (or $50 or more
for recent graduates within three years of graduation) individuals
become a Wildcat Club member. Most contributions fall into one of
the below categories:
• Philanthropic gifts (i.e. capital campaign donations*, sport/area
specific giving, scholarships, endowments)
• Ticket Priority: contribution above and beyond overall ticket price
that is not tax deductible.

WHAT IS THE WILDCAT CLUB?
WELCOME | WILDCAT CLUB
McKale Center RenovationLowell-Stevens Football Facility
C.A.T.S. Academics Building
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
WILDCAT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Donating to the Wildcat Scholarship Fund means making a commitment to the academic success of all Arizona student-athletes. Scholarship costs are projected to be more than $5.6 million annually* and are one of the largest and most important needs of the Athletics Department.
SPORT SPECIFIC OR AREA GIVING
Individuals may also choose to support specific sports or areas within the Athletics Department. These generous contributions offset the operating costs of specific sports and areas.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Individuals who contribute to the ICA Capital Campaign help fund facility projects that support UA student-athletes. Currently these contributions provide support for projects such as the McKale Center renovation, Lowell-Stevens Football Facility, Jim Click Hall of Champions, Kasser Pool, Roby Gymnastics Practice Facility, Richard Jefferson Gym, Hi Corbett Field & the Ginny L. Clements C.A.T.S. Academic Center.
PLANNED GIFTS
By including Arizona Athletics in your estate plan (i.e. bequest, charitable gift annuity, charitable IRA distribution), you can help ensure a quality student-athlete experience for future generations of Wildcats. Arizona Athletics works closely with the UA Foundation concerning a specified planned gift to honor the intentions of the donor. Priority Points will be given to donors who establish irrevocable planned gifts after calculating the IRS Charitable Deduction.
ENDOWMENTS
Establishing an endowment for Arizona Athletics affords a donor the unique opportunity to provide scholarship support in perpetuity; it’s a gift that keeps on giving. A minimum commitment of $100,000 must be made to create an endowment within Arizona Athletics. By doing so, the individual will become a member of the Wildcat Club and receive the appropriate annual benefits.

The University of Arizona deeply appreciates your loyalty and continued support of our programs. We strive to serve the University, our student-athletes and our fans. Compliance with NCAA regulations is of the highest priority for our athletics programs and institution. In order to accomplish this, we must always seek the highest standards of ethical conduct. With your assistance and cooperation, we can achieve these goals.
WHO IS A “PROSPECTIVE STUDENT-ATHLETE?”A “prospective student-athlete,” known as a recruit or prospect, is a student who has started classes in the ninth grade. In addition, any younger student who receives any benefits from the institution would be considered a prospect.
YOU ARE A REPRESENTATIVE OF ATHLETICS INTERESTS IF YOU:• Have made any type of financial or in-kind contribution to the athletics department or to an
athletics booster organization
• Are or have been a member of any organization or agency promoting Arizona Athletics
• Have assisted in any manner in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
• Have arranged for or provided benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families or to prospective student-athletes and their families
• Have otherwise promoted Arizona’s athletics program in any manner
Remember, once you are identified as a representative of athletics interests (commonly known as a booster), you retain that identity FOREVER. Representatives of athletics interests are bound by NCAA, Pac-12 Conference and University of Arizona rules and regulations. As a result, representatives of athletics interests are responsible for notifying the University of Arizona Ath-letics Compliance Office of any potential rules violations. If a booster is found to be involved in a violation that results in the imposition of sanctions, the booster may be subject to the following consequences: revocation of ticket privileges; disassociation from the athletic department (e.g. loss of donor program and/or booster club privileges); or loss of any other athletically related benefits or privileges deemed appropriate by Arizona.
AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF ATHLETICS INTERESTS YOU MAY:• Provide employment opportunities for current student-athletes*
(Please contact the Compliance Office or C.A.T.S Life Skills Office with any opportunities)
• Provide occasional meals to student-athletes in your home*• Bring outstanding prospects to the attention of the Arizona
coaching staff
*Requires athletic department approval prior to occurring.
AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF ATHLETICS INTERESTS YOU MAY NOT:• Call, write, email, text, tweet or post on a prospect’s social
media page encouraging their enrollment at UA• Provide a prospect with free or reduced rate transportation,
lodging, meals, gifts, entertainment or expenses for any type of service
• Entertain or provide gifts, tickets or other benefits to club, ju-nior or senior high school, prep school or junior college coaches
• Arrange or create employment opportunities for relatives, friends or legal guardians of prospects
• Purchase tickets from student-athletes
Representatives of athletics interests are reminded that NCAA rules regarding enrolled student-athletes remain in effect throughout the entire year, including summer break. When student-athletes complete their final season of eligibility, they must abide by NCAA rules until the end of that academic year and/or until they are no longer receiving athletic financial aid.
