The Hub’s new series presents filmed liveperformances of major Broadway shows, not screen

adaptations. debuted on December 2, 1948 at the New CenturyTheatre in New York. The musical's storyline was written by husband and wifeteam Bella and Samuel Spewack with music and lyrics by the incomparableCole Porter. The original Broadway show won the very first Best MusicalTony award in 1949. The play tells the story of a musical interpretation ofShakespeare's and the show's director, producerand star's on-and-off-screen conflict with his leading lady, who happensto be his ex-wife. We present an August, 2002 filmed performance fromthe revival launched in London's West End at the Victoria Palace Theatreon October 30, 2001.
