ART IN THE FORM OF FILMMURDER BY DEATH / JUNE 18

FRIDAYThere are many things to like about(1976) including an ensemble cast featuring Maggie Smith,Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, and a hilarious screenplayby Neil Simon that draws on classic murder mysteries from the 1930s and1940s. In short, it’s a parody of screwball comedy with a host of familiarcharacters. For better or worse, it’s hard to imagine this film being made todayas it traffics in cultural stereotypes of Asians and gays. But that is not to say

doesn’t still have its avid fans, including many respectedfilm critics who put the film in their top five all-time favorite comedies. See itand judge for yourself! Instructor Paul Marino introduces the film and hostsa post-viewing discussion. $7 includes glass of wine or bottle of water
