PROCEDURE 1 OF 18
OBJECTIVE
This procedure is performed as scheduled when indicated by the Loss of Turbine Performance. Usually the Off Line Water Wash is performed following a unit outage and less than 24 hours to OnLine. The time limit between wash and firing the unit will prevent internal corrosion. The desired outcome of the procedure is the removal of deposits from atmospheric contaminants on the compressor parts, restoring the turbine to optimal performance.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL
1. Plant required personal protective equipment (i.e. Safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, etc.)
2. The water wash operation involves water under high pressure. Caution must be exercised to ensure the proper positioning of all valves during this operation, since the water is HOT, necessary precautions should be taken in handling valves, pipes, and potentially HOT SURFACES.
3. While detergent is being injected into the wash water, avoid skin contact and breathing fumes produced in and around CT compartment. Review the MSDS of this product.
PREREQUISITES
1. Insure detergent is available, and the water wash supply tank is preheated to 150/180 degs.
2. Verify second stage wheelspace temperature is < 150°F at turning gear speed.
3. Verify Water Wash Drain tank has room for wash water.
4. Verify that the Off Line Water Wash procedure and inplant clearance have been completed.
5. Use GE drawings 352b4351 , P&ID M605 , GE TIL 1236-2 ,GEK 107122A , for more detailed information.

GENERAL PROCEDURE
Valve Line up for Off-Line Water Wash
Water Wash Skid House
1. Prepare Wash Water Skid for operation:
a) Verify a full Water Wash tank ________
b) Verify a full Detergent Tank (4 parts of water to 1 part detergent) ________
c) Prepare water by aligning controls at Wash Skid. Give 8 to 12Hours to reach 180°F.________
d) Verify that the Water Wash Drain Tank (3000 gal capacity) hasenough capacity to store water wash. Note: Drain tanks are buried in the ground between units A/B,C/D and West Side of F. Each drain tank has a high level alarmAt 2250 gallons and a high/high alarm at 2700 gallons. ________

4. Secure and Tag CO2 fire protection to CT. Manual isolation valve on top of tank can be locked in the closed position.
_________
Prepare CT for Wash, align drain pathway and Isolate CT subsystems.Using In-Plant Clearance Procedure.
5. Starting on the inside of the CT compartment, Open and Tag both ballvalves (WW-1 & WW-3 ) on the drain header that are attachedto the seven (7) lower combustion cans (4 through 10). This is known as the Combustion Chamber Drain Header. _________
6. Close and Tag 1” vent valve (WW-2) _________between the isolation valves. Note: This valve is left open during normal operations and is used as a tail tail to prevent leaking isolationvalve from going undetected. This would prevent the drain header from leaking into the CT compartment.
