The Monterey Bay International Trade Association is arranging exclusive one-on-one conference calls with BADLISHAM GHAZALI who is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC), the one stop agency set up by the Government to facilitate the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) (http://www.mdc.com.my/).

These exclusive conference calls are directed to qualified California companies wishing to explore Malaysia in the following areas:

• Bridge into Asia Pacific market (esp. Middle East & China)

• Conduct profitable businesses with any of over 1400 MSC-status companies

• Start JVs with any MSC-status company

Mr. Ghazali is responsible to provide the leadership to drive the MDC as a high performance organization that is responsible to translate the MSC vision into action. As a one-stop agency, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) has been established to facilitate the development of Malaysia’s national ICT project called the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and to expedite the entry of investors into the MSC. MDC is also empowered to grant MSC Status to companies wishing to locate their operations in the MSC.

Badlisham was the former Director of the new Hewlett-Packard in Malaysia and Country General Manager of HP Technology Solutions Group (TSG). Among his greatest achievements was Badlisham had led HP Services to the No.1 position with a growth rate of 18%, as the largest IT services organization in Malaysia with over 600 IT professionals under his care.

MSC-Status Eligibility Criteria

1. Provider and/or heavy user of multimedia products and services

2. Employ substantial proportion of Knowledge Workers (KWs)– KWs min is Diploma in IT with 2 yrs working experience– Min 5 yrs working experience for non-graduate– Total KWs must at least 15% of total employment

3. Strong value propositions specifying how operations will contribute to the development of the MSC and Malaysia

4. Establish a separate legal entity for MSC-qualifying activities

5. Locate in an MSC-designated cybercity

6. Comply with environmental guidelines

Activities Not Eligible for MSC-Status

The following activities are considered as low –value activities and noteligible for MSC-Status:

1. Trading companies / resellers.

2. Configuration of existing foreign developed software.

3. Integration of 3rd party software & hardware.

4. Manufacturing.

5. Technical Support Services for 3rd party providers.

6. Licensed MCMC VOIP/Telecom service providers.

7. SSO companies that provide services for Malaysia only.

8. Companies already enjoying Pioneer Status/ITA.

9. Companies formed for sole purpose of undertaking contractual work for Malaysian Federal Govt/ State Govts only.

10. Companies seeking to bring in Foreign Knowledge Workers for subcontract (Body shopping) and turn-key projects.
