Abstract
This article explains the importance of qasida, a classical genreof Urdu, Persian and Arabic poetry. The article writer claimsthat Abu Muhammad Sahr has unrivalled reputation in doingtremendous job about the genre in Urdu.In the article, the articlecontains information about qasida in Arabic language and itsprinciples. The genre of qasida in Persian was initiallyinfluenced by the Arabic language and later on the Persian poetsexperimented in the form. The article contains a detailedaccount titled, monisul ahrar fi daqaiqul ashaarby Muhammedbin Badr Ja Jarmi who compiled the works of 187 poets ofqasida in his work for which he wrote 14 chapters carefullydivided with reference to their topics and beauty of theirexpression.
