FXC STM node C1.0
FXC STM is the unit family name for the FXC SDH units(FXC Bridge, FXC STM-1, and the future SDH units)
• FXC STM-1Fibre optic transmission unit (STM-1) with two 155 Mbit/s optical long haul SDH interfaces. FXC STM-1 can be installed in Nokia UltraSite BTS or Nokia MetroHub and is always used together with the FXC Bridge unit.
• FXC Bridge is a FXC STM (SDH) transmission unit acting as the binding element between the FXC SDH and PDH transmission units. It supports termination of up to 20 TU-12 signals, extracting/mapping 2M signals into TU-12s, and cross-connecting the 2M signals towards the PDH cross-connect bus.
37 © NOKIA 6-65965 / 5.0 en.PPT/ Dec-2003 / R.Arndt
FXC STM-1 (1/2)
• FXC STM is used in the circumstances where backbone and regional network have been built using third party SDH equipment.
• As in this case of Connect Site 100 BTS SDH equipment is directly connected to this equipment for getting the network connectivity towards the BSC
• The FXC STM 1 & FXC Bridge transmission units enable Cross-connection between PDH(Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) transmission rate.
• The units work together to form a complete SDH STM-1Terminal Multiplexer ™ or Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) node inside Nokia UltraSite Base Station or Nokia MetroHub Transmission Node
38 © NOKIA 6-65965 / 5.0 en.PPT/ Dec-2003 / R.Arndt
FXC STM-1 (2/2)
• FXC STM-1 performs the main SDH functions, whereas FXC Bridge forms a bridge for the SDH part & the PDH cross-connect part of the node.
• In present release two units are always used together.
• FXC Bridge supports D-Buses for connecting PDH add/drop and Q1 management traffic between the BTS and the FXC(PDH)/FXC Bridge transmission units.
• Ultra Site and MetroHub integrated STM-1 SDH solution.
